If this bill passes, it should have no effect on a voluntary departure. But if this bill does pass, there is going to be insurrection in the streets.
Illegal aliens dont seem to understand the reason so many Americans are against amnesty. Especially for the kinds of people this bill would help. All countries have the right to secure their borders and to determine who may enter, and under what conditions, if any, they may be granted citizenship. There is no right to demand citizenship in this country. Or any other for that matter.
When you enter this country illegally, you are putting a burden on our healthcare, taxes, education system, welfare system, highway safety and countless other services granted to people within our borders. Now I'm not one who thinks illegal alien necessarily means violent criminal, but at the very least, illegal aliens are criminals because they entered illegally. Period. It does seem as if an inordinently high percentage of illegals do commit serious crimes here. The new bill seeks to allow them to stay, even if they have faced a judge and were ordered out of the county for these crimes. If we are going to allow child molestors, terrorists, gang bangers and frauds to stay here, why not just give the keys to the White House to Mexico?
I'm really tired of people coming to my country and demanding that we must change our laws to satisfy their criminal actions. There are probably several million aliens who are here legally and are following our laws on their path to citizenship. Let's make it easier for THEM to stay here, instead of letting criminals cut in line ahead of them.
You would still evetually have to go back and get in line (apparently).
If you are here illegally, the sooner you leave the happier everyone will be. This bill is NOT going to pass, so just start packing. The legal citizens of the US are going to make a stand very soon and the illegals WILL be deported by whatever means necessary.
McCain and every other politician who supports this piece of trash bill are all committing political suicide.

I don't know what "voluntary departure" means, and I'm guessing that most people who answer this question won't know exactly what that means either.
Too bad, though. If your family were simply here illegally (it sounds like there's a legal situation here -- am I right?) - then you'd be fine! 'Cause illegals obviously rock, with the current congress, senate, and prez! Hey, here's an idea -- tell them to go back with the voluntary leave, then sneak back over -- all will be fine!
Yes, this was a joke, and I know you were looking for serious answers. But, again, the term "voluntary leave" is probably something most laymen do not understand. Maybe you need to talk to INS?
We aren't stupid people, just because we want the illegals out of our country. You broke our laws by coming here illegally and should be deported. You have legal order to leave my country, so do so please! You will have to go back anyway if the bill passes. If you would have followed our laws in the first place, you wouldn't have this problem, so deal with it.
Amnesty is not going to happen. I think that you should follow your voluntary departure and be glad that none of you is being prosecuted as criminals here in the U.S. If you want to come back legally, America will accept you. Illegally, they'll hate you. Make a wise choice.
You want sympathy for your situation but still have the nerve to bash us,call us stupid and say we all talk out of our a**. You would get much nicer responses if you started out with some respect.
IF this bill passes the senate,it still has to go through the House and then to the President. It wouldn't be anywhere near being in effect by the time you all are supposed to leave. So no,it won't help your family at all.
While I have sympathy for you and your brother in this situation,it was your parents that made the decision to come here illegally. It is not our fault that you are being sent to a country that you know nothing about,it is the fault of your parents.
