How would we word an amendment to transfer all spending power from Washington to the people?
Don't bother telling me "it'll never work". If the first 10 million nay-sayers didn't disuade me, neither will the next.
My idea is this: Select 100 citizens AT RANDOM from each lower house district ("Jury-Congress") and 300 to repleace each Senator ("Jury-Senate"). Then another, say, 400 from each state to replace the president's veto ("Jury-Executive").
For each spending measure, each pertinent party to the expenditure must condense its concerns into 30 minutes of video. Each "Jury member" must watch and be tested as to comprehension of the material...but ONLY on understanding the issues - no "keep-away" games.
Then the parties may provide rebuttal and aswer questions.
Then, the vote is the same as in the House, Senate and White House.
Perhaps the same should and could be done concerning all taxation?

The single most important thing you can do is research all of the candidates on a ballot and VOTE. That's how you have control over how your tax dollars are spent.
Our government (USA) is not this mystical entity, it is completely in the hands of the voters and if more people would exercise their RIGHT (and obligation) to vote for the best candidate that would uphold their oath of office and follow the guidelines set forth in the Constitution, we wouldn't have the messes we have.
Under your plan, you would have people avoiding this position as they do jury duty.......
Your proposal would require abrogating the entire Constitution, not just a single amendment. You're also assuming that a random sampling of Americans would be smart enough and interested enough in the actual issues of governance to make good decisions for the country. Somehow, I doubt that's true.
how about firing all the politicians because they are all liers and work for large corporations who line their pockets how about a new political party one for the people not for businesses America is screwed and the politicians are the screw driver and the Americans are the losers
