Illegals-Why do you deserve american citizenship?
I can tell you why every single legal immigrant deserves citizenship, i can tell you why every single american deserves citizenship.. i cant tell why you deserve citizenship.
every non illegal whos reading this, simply ask this question to every illegal who posts stupid comments. they cannot answer it.
Answer:
Well, why don't you ask this govt. why until 1924 they wouldn't even grant Native Americans citizenship? Nor were they allowed to vote? You think this country is a just country? And why do you deserve citizenship? Get off your high horse, this govt. deems only certain people worthy of citizenship, and fortunately for you, you were not a Native American, African American or an illegal immigrant.Because all these groups have been denied citizenship, until very recently, learn a little bit about your History and get a clue...
they will just demand their rights that they don't have.
how do they even know what rights they think they have when our legal documents are in english?
because they hear this in their country that we are pushovers and give handouts and pay better than they can make in their country. so they come here illegally and don't even try to do so the legal way.
i don't know how they think they deserve a thing but to be deported. they know the risks and still do it, just like committing a crime.
i don't think you'll get many responses from illegals...
if you think about it though, citizenship is not a deserved thing. it is a gift. you are lucky to have been born in america and granted that gift.
You know for once I actually agree with Sergio
Andy W.. Excuse me for my response, as ti may perhaps seem offesive. You are an idiot of a high caliber. I'm not here illegally, but know many many (tons, actually) that are here illegally, and quite frankly, they're more deserving of citizenship than an en masse group of lazy Americans I see and interact with at times. Why? Better work ethic, wonderful food, nice humble people, people with values. As to "criminals" among this demographic, well, of course, but any demographic will have criminals: rapists and the like. Why do YOU deserve citizenship? You seem angry. Were you molested by illegal immigrants?
It is not a gift, as much as a legacy, that we as Americans need to protect. Our forefathers died to to help make this country what it has become, now we have a responsibility to make sure it will remain strong for our future generations.
Every one talks about how it would be better for them to enter the country at their own will. We should never consider what is better for one person, or class of people, but focus on what is best for this country.
Amnesty is not the answer.
Funny, because, the stupidest comments I've seen have been coming from the antagonists of this debate.
I'm not sure I'd even call it a debate, because most of these comments have been rhetorical and racist.
I feel for the people who are trying to think constructively about this issue, And If you are in support of the deportation of these hard working indivduals and not racist, you'll probably get some backlash from the
protagonists because of all these narrow-minded naysayers.
Maybe, the fact that these "illegal immigrants" have been working in this country for many many years now, contributing to this economy, is deserving, as you put it, of citizenship. Maybe, because U.S. corporations have been supplying immigrants with work, encouraging this influx to their benefit and to the benefit of the economy, they are deserving.
And this has been happening for generations now. I'm really suprised that you are all just taking notice. Oh. well. maybe not, the media only hypes stuff up when they have something up their sleeves. Hmm.I smell diversion.
Andy W.: I'm not Trying to turn this into something racial.
By all means, I'd like to pretend I haven't read "beaner" or "wet-back" or the other slanders some have chosen to use when making their comments on this issue, ( And all the anonymous thumbs up they are getting in support of this racist talk.) but I have. If in fact this is not a race issue for you, then I would suggest you make that clear when you leave your comments or talk some sense into your fellow supporters, because it is really unnecessary.
Let me inform you, that there are many immigrants of illegal status who are making the changes to become legal. High schools in East Los Angeles offer English for Spanish speakers and they are packed with people eager to learn. I know when you see an immigrant being interviewed in a news report and they are not speaking english, you may overgeneralize and think "See!...look at them...they can't even speak english..." The entire process is going to take time. The only thing we can do at this point, if we care about this issue, is research.
How come after NAFTA, was there a rise in illegal immigration?
How come businesses get away with disenfranchising people?
Why does this country need cheap labor?
Why haven't Americans demanded dignity/ higher pay for most of the jobs the immigrants are doing?
Many immigrants spend money on food, clothing, gas, and other essentials, thus paying taxes. They've been here for years now.
Let's try to come up with solutions that are Dignified and Humane.
And my great-uncle too served in WWII and was killed in battle, recieving a purple heart for his bravery, as he saved an entire platoon. He was of Mexican descent, and unfortunately when the hundreds of thousands of other Mexican soldiers came back, they had to deal with the war on racism in their own back yard.
The first Mexicans to become part of the United States never crossed any border. Instead, the border crossed them.
Spanish-speaking people have lived in North America since the Spaniards colonized Mexico in the sixteenth century, and Mexicans have always played a crucial role in the continent's culture and history. Mexican culture brought many firsts to North America: The first Thanksgiving took place in either New Mexico or El Paso; the first university in North America was founded in Mexico City; the first printing press on the continent arrived in Mexico in 1538, more than a century before printing came to New England.
In 1846, everything changed. War broke out between the U.S. and Mexico over the U.S. annexation of Texas. Mexico was defeated, and in 1848 the two nations signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This treaty gave the victorious nation an enormous amount of land, including what would later become the states of California and Texas, as well as parts of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada, in exchange for a token payment of $15 million.
One more important piece of land changed hands in 1854, when the U.S. bought what is now southern Arizona and New Mexico from the Mexican government for $10 million. This land deal, known as the Gadsden Purchase, brought the U.S. a much-coveted railroad route, and helped open the West to further expansion.
With two strokes of a pen, the larger nation had expanded its size by one-third. And almost overnight, tens of thousands of Mexican citizens had become residents of the United States.
White people in Unites States descend from English. That will make them immigrants, and they are not from America like mexican or other hispanic people (yes, Hispanics are Americans because they were born in the America continent), they are from Europe. That would make white people even more immigrant that they already are. So, who was here first?
Sure, that's it!! Illegals want to contribute to the American economy to make it better for all of the citizens. That's why they don't pay taxes, can't get a driver's license, get medical benefits, food stamps, etc. Who are the ones contributing? The American citizens who pay our taxes everyday to pay their way while they are here illegally. The banking system is even making it possible for illegals to own a home without showing identification or social security numbers.
How about we make both their deportations out of the country, and the fence to the southern border their departure gifts.
You say "ive paid my taxes, ive followed laws, ive served in the military, my family has taken loses in wars for MY freedom, i participate in elections, i petition my government for change, and i hit 18, i signed up in the selected service... will an illegal ever do those things? ABSOLUTELY NOT!"
No, because the minute he did any of these things, under current law he could be deported. That's why we need a path to citizenship for him, so that he can do all that stuff. History shows that those who CHOOSE to become citizens support their adopted country MORE than natural-born citizens, not less.
"do you not understand that the illegals could care less about america?" BULLSH**! As I said, history shows that they care MORE.
"The(y) ignore the laws."
WRONG. Studies show that (apart from immigration laws) undocumented aliens are more law abiding than citizens. They don't dare break the law, partly because they are afraid of deportation if caught.
"They will never serve our country, they dont want to be an american" Like I said, this is contrary to history. They support their adopted country better than natural-born citizens.
"If they wanted to be an american, they have ways to do this, but they ignore them." Wrong again. The system is so broken that it can't handle the demand. Do you support expansion of the immigration quotas? If not, your arguments are just immigrant-bashing.
"Why would you want to grant amnesty to criminals?" Here you go again with the 'criminals' cr*p. The only reason they are criminals is that we define them as such. We changed Jim Crow laws and struck down unfair housing laws because they were WRONG, we can change immigration laws for the same reason.
I don't understand what it is about American Citizenship that you feel so threatened. For you to be this upset, there has to be a personal issue in it somewhere. Did you lose your job to an illegal immigrant?
What makes you think these people don't want to be citizens?
And what's wrong with wanting a better life? If your family was on the brink of starvation, and you could make five times your current salary by crossing into Canada, and the wait was eight years, what would you do?
What sacrifice do you demand before immigrants get citizenship? And why? You got yours without any effort at all! What you did after that is irrelevant, since they can do all that too, and history shows they would do more, as a group.
As for the tax thing, the one thing that would fix that -- making them citizens -- is the one thing you are dead set against.
And GET OFF THE CRIMINALS THING! They are only criminals because we define them as such. As a group they are MORE law abiding than the natural-born.
Did some illegal immigrant murder you in a past life? Man, you need some anger management!
