my passport was stolen a few months ago and I am going to get it replaced, but how do I get my working-holiday visa replaced? At the Aus embassy as well?

If you are in Australia, go to the DIMIA (immigration dept) or a branch to inform them. They should have a copy of your visa in computer. When you get your new passport, bring it to them to stick the new visa on it.
Oh, also bring a copy of the police report about your lost passport.
Your passport is issued by the US State Department ( for American citizens) not the Aus embassy! The visa would be obtainable at the embassy. Best to use one of the agencies that do it for you and all is done in a couple of days! Otherwise you're looking at weeks to months!
