I think morally they should be helped in a legal fashion. I think you should do what ever you can for them now untill you help them get back to Mexico. I would be scared to be in a country that my husband or wife abandoned me in. Also, it would probably be easier for them if they just went back, I know I woudn't want to be abandoned in a foreign country.

You have to help her get back home or apply for an emergency VISA. Keep in mind if you are perceived to be harboring or aiding her in breaking the law, you can also be prosecuted, not just her.

Obviously they are in the wrong country. How did they get here anyway? Sounds like hubby didn't have a clue that the family was coming to pay a visit.
Why not report the husband? He loses the woman he's cheating on his wife with, he gets sent back to wherever he came from and then you can ask the local church to collect donations to return the family safely.
No harm done and we're rid of yet another piece of scum (the husband). The wife will be able to keep better tabs on hubby - who has probably always cheated on her.

Morally, buy her and the kids Greyhound tickets back to the border and give them a little spending money to help them get home.
If the border is only a day's drive then take them yourself and give them some money to help them get home once they cross back to where they belong.
