Yes leave without your parents and then come on back!
Why not call and ask the US State Department?
No. Your green card is your visa. www.uscis.gov Good luck in your studies!

When you say “I am a green card holder” do you mean you are a “Legal Permanent Resident”? If you are you will be ok if you leave the U.S. for less than a year. If you leave for more than one year you will need a reentry permit.
Remember you may be found to have abandoned your permanent resident status if you:
Move to another country intending to live there permanently. Remain outside of the US for more than one year without obtaining a reentry permit or returning resident visa. However in determining whether your status has been abandoned any length of absence from the US may be considered, even if it is less than one year. Remain outside of the US for more than two years after issuance of a reentry permit without obtaining a returning resident visa. However in determining whether your status has been abandoned any length of absence from the US may be considered, even if it is less than one year. Fail to file income tax returns while living outside of the US for any period. Declare yourself a “nonimmigrant” on your tax returns.
I you know you'll be back in 9 months you do not need one.
No, you don't need a re-entry permit. But do make photocopies of your greencard, your passport (pages and all) and have one copy with someone you trust here in the US. It's hard to tell what would happen just in case you lose your paperwork while you are out of the country.
Goodluck!
