Question about the 5-yr requirement to become a US citizen.?

I got my green card in '03 but had to go back to my country to finish my studies so I've been out for more or less 10 months. I have a reentry permit with my green card when I went back here in '04. Since I have a reentry permit when I went back, I figured that will not be considered abandonment of my permanent residence even if I've been out for quite a long time. But will they consider my permanent resident status prior to 2004 to qualify for the 5-yr requirement to become a U.S. citizen? All help is appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:
AFAIK, You are allowed one year of absence to take care of family/education or other personal business. Just have the proof of your education you received when you were out of the country. Talk to a lawyer or forums like immigrationvoice.org
They don't really care if your out of country for 2 yrs. ....as long as you have green card ...your allow to appy for citizenship ....

by the way are you mexican or SPlC ?
