Two of the rights that immediately come to mind with naturalized citizenship are the right to vote and the right to work. Although I do not think an Australian who has become a new US citizen is in a rush to dash out and vote, they might be in a position to take some working opportunities from qualified US born (non-naturalized) citizens. That has a wide-ranging economic impact and requires more thought than just saying the 2 countries have great relations, let's do it. I think they should still go through the H-1B process.
