Why cant we let the imigrants join the service to fight in the war to earn their right to become an American??

I myself would be in favor of something like that but several laws would have to be changed.
There is also the security problem. Much military information is marked "No foreign nationals". So there would be limits on what a new immigrant could do - job wise.
The military is a lot more complicated than when we had union regiments that did not even speak English.
Sure, as long as we ship them all back to Mexico, first.

They can and they do, it's just not as easy as, bam! you're an american now. There is legal paperwork and alot of it has to do with homeland security.
um. legal immigrants are allowed to join the armed forces. ant this is an all volunteer force. we want nothing less
I think that's a dumb idea, I mean immigrants aren't that stupid, no offense. Do you know how many of the immigrants would actually die if that was an option? Probably most of them...

i am latin and i do not know why the president can let the imigrants stay here if they are not criminals,they come to this country to look for better lives and help their families in their countries

I would have no problem with a way for illegals to get a green card via military service.
What I disagree with is an uncontrolled border and illegal siding employers profiting from the billions of dollars we pay to school, house, medicate, and give other services to their illegal employees.

I think it would be more appropriate to require service from all 18 yr old males and female. Not just military service, but at least some type of service, be it military, peace corps, national parks, something to at least let them know that freedom is not free.
I would never want an illegal immigrant to serve in the military just to gain citizenship. Make them become citizens first, make them learn english, require them to learn about our nations history. Oh wait, that is whats required to become a citizen isn't it ? So I guess thats your answer.
I'm with the Guy above me, if they can't and won't fight for rights and a change of government in their own country why would they fight here for OUR country? They wouldn't they are lazy and want everything handed to them. It would be a disaster.
