I can't help you much with the machinations of the American Immigration Authorities, as they do appear to be a law unto themselves.
What I can do is suggest you do not listen to people such as the 'True American'. He says, basically, 'Get out, I'm American and you're not!'
The man is an idiot, does he not realise that ALL 'Americans' are immigrants? That 'True Americans' are made up from English, German, Scandanavian, African etc. etc. people who emigrated from their own countries to settle in the new land called 'America'?
I can only suggest that you start again by reminding the various departments you will have been dealing with that you still haven't got the application sorted out. They may have simply forgotten. (You know how it is when something's pushed to the bottom of a pile?)

The US government would treat you much better if you were an illegal alien. You just went about it wrong way, legally.
You can apply for writ of mandamus as your case has gone on for so long. This takes money naturally as it involves a court proceeding. You can read up on some recent mandamus victories here

I understand your anger, however you are trying to become an American citizen. Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world want the same thing, and are also applying.
Not to mention the people who try to circumvent the system, and sneak into the country.( they slow down the process)
