Help... school project....What do you think of Asylum Seekers?

We have both a moral and legal obligation to provide assistance to people who are persecuted for their race/faith political views etc and should welcome such people to our country. However "Do not bite the hand that you would like to be fed by" also applies and newcomers to our country should be in no doubt that the welcome will be short lived if they are unable to keep to the laws of their new home.
I think you'd have to be crazy to seek an asylum
Many who are criminals in their own country and might be facing the death penalty, will try and come here to seek Politicial Asylum, and for the most part that is the main reason. No, not all are criminals but to use that particuilar reason they are.
There are always people who don't have real claims, but I have met many people who suffered horrible tragedies in their home countries perpetrated by the government. seeing their families shot to death, maimed, or raped in front of their eyes, suffering torture, we as other countries around the world at least give asylum seekers a chance to make their cases...
I agree...why would anybody want to seek an asylum?? I would think people would want to AVOID asylums.
With valid reasons, it should be granted.
I don't care, as long as they seek it far away from me.
