There is not drug test for people applying for green cards if that is what you are asking. They just want to see that you are in good health. If you really want to help your friend just tell him to stop with the grass for a while just to be safe. Mainly because if he is caught with it by police it can get him deported.
there is a medical exam to be submitted with the green card application. the dr. will look for signs of alcohol/drug abuse. tell the dude to lay off for awhile and do some cleanse treatment.
