Visa applications are denied or rejected for a number of things. Some will be rejected because you don't have enough money on a bank account, you have no properties in your country, you're not married in your country, or your purpose for wanting to come to the US, they do this because if you don't have any of those they have no proof that you won't violate the law and overstay your visa.
Criminal records, being married to more than one person at a time are all reasons also. Now if you're from a middle eastern country that will also cause delays and rejections base on your age, sex, and family history.
The thing is they want to give visas to people that they feel will actually return to their country and not violate any US laws by staying here, they also want to prevent criminals from getting visas into the US( not that it works but whatever).
Have you ever been arrested or had a name change from your birth certificate, like getting married without showing a marriage certificate or valid documents with that new name over the last few years? Just a few that they got me own and I'm still waiting. I've never been arrested but I was married for 10 years and he died. I had to give all his birth and death info and am still waiting and the date of our marriage. My girlfriend married 4 times, no problemo. Jo

They usually tell u why .
It could be from false documents, lies, bad records, arrests, didn't sound credible in the interview,...etc
American law requires all visitor applicants to be considered immigrants. The law requires a visitor applicant to prove to the American consular officer that he/she will not overstay the visa. In many poor countries that's a very difficult thing to prove.
