Am I a US Citizen?

I am 15 and my parents are US Citizens I applyed for a US passport at the passport office and got one but my dad says your not a citizen yet because you still have to apply for the Citizenship Certificate or something? Is that true?

Answer:
you are a u.s. citizen, you just don't have a certificate issued by the uscis, so apply for one now before the fees go up, cost $255.00 now, will go up to 400 or more. Go to www.uscis.gov and look for the Child Citizenship Act of 2000. You just need to file form N-600, with your green card, copy of parents proof of citizenship and your birth certificate. In my personal opinion you don't really need the certificate, since you have the U.S. passport, but you may need the certificate if requested by a school or future employer.
No.
If you were born in the US, you are a U.S. citizen.
yes and if you don't have a birth certificcate or a citizenship certificate then you have no citizenship need to apply for it
I don't think they give out passports if you don't have some proof of that you are a citizen. What ID did you give them?
Born in the USA makes you a citizen! Congrats!!
if ur parents are citizens and u were born in America then u are a citizen
If you were born in America, you are a citizen.
Hells no your USA born right
yes, it is.
Were you born in the USA and were your parents US Citizens when you were born? If so, then you are a U.S. Citizen and your birth certificate will prove it. If your parents were not U.S. Citizens when you were born and/or if you were born in another country, you may have to apply for citizenship. You are what is known as a dual citizen and you will have to declare your allegiance to the country you choose when you are 18 -- check with immigration because this part of the law may have changed. If you are not a U.S. Citizen, then your parents are required to register you each year as an immigrant living in the USA. You really should be checking with the immigration offices and find out what the law says.
Birth Abroad to Two U.S. Citizen Parents in Wedlock: A child born abroad to two U.S. citizen parents acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under section 301(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). One of the parents MUST have resided in the U.S. prior to the child's birth. No specific period of time for such prior residence is required.

Check out the requirements at uscis.gov.

From what I've heard you are entitled to citizenship but have to file papers. I would suggest you do that before you are too old.
wow. ok two things. are your parents naturalized citizens? if so you you are not but should have become one when they did ifyou came with them. if they are both native born then you are. with some paperwork.

go call immig at www.uscic.gov they can help you and go to www.usa.gov and to find a faq on this subject there.
No==will some one remove antis suck post I need more points.
No
if you still have a greencard, you are not a citizen. Interesting how you say they "just gave you a passport" everyone else has to order one in the mail and wait a few weeks.
If you were not born in or on US soil then further steps must be taken before you are considered for citizenship.
