Were Black slaves considered illegal also?
Answer:
NO! Don't listen to pro-illegals - they lie. They have no answers and when they get backed into a corner they pull out the race card.
Slaves were brought here against their will, they were property, could not leave and were forced to work fo no money.
Illegal alien criminals came here of their own free will, are NOT property, can leave whenever they want and they get money.
It is totally insulting for the pro-illegals to compare illegal alien criminals to slaves!
Yes, as a matter of fact they were. And so were Native Americans. Not until 1924, they wouldn't even grant Native Americans citizenship... Nor were they allowed to vote...
No, they came as property.
Yeah, I've seen some questions like that before too. Here's how I feel though. Whites and blacks belong here, think about it, how did the black people get here? Our white ancestors brought them here, and then when segragation ended, they were freed here, they weren't taken home. Way back when this happened, they weren't considered illegal because sadly they were considered as property, just like if you went to China and brought home a pair of authentic chop sticks, they're not illegal but they'd be property because you bought and owned them. I'm not saying I think that was right because I don't think anyone should own anybody. I'm not pro-illegal either by the way, but you already know that about me I'm sure from being on here for a while. I don't feel illegals belong here, they all need to go home. If they're good people, then they should apply to cone here the right ways through our government, and then abide by our laws totally like the rest of us must. My opinion of course. Do you agree with me? How do you feel about this?
Blacks were legal immigrants. At the time they were considered property and it was perfectly legal for them to be brought into the country.
There is no way that they could be considered illegal immigrants.
trylergrl your the only smart person here!
Many Pro-Illegals will find this very hard to answer and will therefore bring up something else totally not related to your question.
If African slave was forced here against his own rights he wouldn't be considered a illegal.
No they were not.
No, they weren't and yes they were considered property. Most of the chiefs in Africa sold their own tribes members into slavery and then got a rude awakening when they ran out of people to sell, they were taken. I know this is unpopular but all you have to do is just research it to either verify this or prove me wrong.
Of course they were, they were 'contraband'.
[I totally agree with you.]
No, and you have to remember that most of the "pro-illegals" like to automatically assume all "anti-illegals" are White. They don't like, nor want, to believe that there are actually other races who are against illegal immigration as well..
Actually the guy who said property was correct. That was what they were perceived to be at the time. And then following the civil war they were deemed second class citizens (the same as women really)
Just because that was what they were considered to be 150 years ago does not mean it was correct.
Regardless of how anyone's family got to this country centuries ago, I don't think that the pro illegals have any ground to stand on because if they are going to compare themselves to anyone they should compare themselves to all the legal immigrants that come to this country everyday.
No because they had first class tickets on the TITANIC !
nope i doubt it...
you see americans legalized them for their benefit. to use them and make them well.slaves.
now im for SOME illegals but what some mean is that Europeans say they came here legally..which i don't understand because im sure the natives didn't grant anyone visas.much less want them here but hey.. they came and made a great country.
now your not for illegals but hey this really has nothing to do with blacks so don't feel attacked much less wanted by illegals.
what are you so mad about?.oh that we work?
adios!
No. I find it irritating how some people come here and make claims of racism and and how we make false generalization turn around and make racist statement and open generalization of others. I am upset on how disrespectful of people of other cultures. They only seem to be able to see from their limited vision of the world. They seem to only see the injustice towards their culture and care not of others.
No, they were not here illegally. They were sold to slave traders by other tribes and therefore forced to come here or die there. How could they be illegal?
No, they were considered the property of their owners. That time was a black mark on our history. Many different races have suffered because of stupidy and selfishness of those in power.I personally could never understand how such a thing could of gone on. I hear that in some 3rd world countries they have slavery still,we should all get together as one voice and stop it.It hurts my soul when I hear about it on the world news in Europe. I don't believe it is covered much on the US news.
No they were not considered illegal. Upon entering the states they went from free people to slaves and property. The civil war ended slavery and the 14th amendment guaranteed slaves citizenship.
And, once again for those that missed it:
We are not nor ever have been a nation of immigrants. We are a nation of citizens. For all persons whoever lived in the USA, 14% were immigrants and 84% persons were citizens that built this country. That leaves about 2% for the illegals your misguided friends only give credit to for building our nation.
Thank you.
Africans at the time were in the same category as live stock, When they were taken from Africa they were forced into slave labor. The fact that that they did not go willingly is irrelevant, they were captured and sold as livestock just like any other livestock that went unwillingly. Not saying it was right, just how it was viewed at the time.
