How do I, as a British citizen, marry a South African citizen? How difficult is it?
Answer:
Marry her in South Africa (if you love her then it really doesn't matter as long as you're together).. then present the wedding certificate when the embassy asks why they should reconsider.
The same thing happened to a friend of mine. Her visa (for the UK) expired and she was deported back to SA. She was pregnant at the time with her fiance's son. He came to South Africa, married her here and they moved back to the UK (where they got married again, not sure if it was for legal reasons or just for the family's sake) for a few years before settling in SA. They had an attorney helping them sort out the legal issues... so that helped.
Come here (South Africa), marry your girl and get a good South African immigration attorney to help you sort matters out from there. When you have an official marriage certificate (South African or British) it should make matters a little simpler. Still, get a good attorney to help you out... they know how to handle these cases.
Good luck.
I am English and I married my Texan husband in Houston USA.
To get him into the country I had to prove I could support him financially and had a place to live. Once I had collated all the evidence he applied to the British Embassy in the USA for an Entry Clearance Visa. $1000 USD this cost.
He was able to stay in the UK for two years on this visa but had no recourse to any public funds. At the two year stage he was able to apply for his residency visa but we had to prove that we had lived together for the past two years. He found work therefore we were financially sound. His residency visa cost £500.
I hope that helps, and YES it is possible to marry your fiancé.
