Cinco De Mayo?
Yesterday we went to this huge lake in Oregon to watch the fireworks and enjoy a picnic & BBQ. This area/neighborhood is predominantly white. We get there and all we hear was loud banda and ranchero tijuana music bumping from trucks. Um this is not how I wanted to spend my 4th of July. Is diversity in America about to be wiped out? Gawd I thrive on diversity. Yesterday was sooo freaking depressing!

The great thing about America, is we *are* an ethnically diverse culture. it reflects in out music... Christina Aguilara, Selena, blast I'm terrible at remembering artists names. But you get the picture, I hope? Just because someone likes a certain type of music more than others does not mean they don't belong here. If they were "causing trouble" you should have called the cops and let them deal with it. And, if their music was too loud, well, are there any noise ordinances in the area? That, too, can be construed as causing trouble.
My poor kids are going to be so shocked when we get back to the states and they see racism rear its ugly head for the first time.
Don't get me wrong... I hated the idea of that amnesty bill as much as the next person... but one cannot assume by the music one plays the legality of their presence. And not all "hispanics" are Mexican. I have plenty of *legal* friends, from Coloumbia, Ecuador, Rio...

lol..im in IL, lots of mexicans there. same thing, but i don't mind i celebrate cinco de mayo with them so they can celebrate the 4th with me i suppose.
They were prob. just mexicans legally here that were celebrating but not in the way you are used to celebrating. Everybody celebrates holidays differently.

If it was predominantly a white neighborhood they must have been pissed that YOU showed up! Oh wait you don't like racism when it's directed at you do you? Get over yourself and if you let other cultures music ruin your day them you must already be walking around grumpy. Learn to have a good time regardless.

Don't you hate it when people try to go around your questions on this forum? I understand exactly what you are saying. This is America... not Mexico! I am sooo, sooo glad that stupid amnesty bill failed. People on this forum can't stand the fact that Americans have a voice in the long run. Illegals think that since their skin is white, they should have more privileges than Black Americans. We have earned a right to be here. They just want to take all the freebies they can without earning it. Don't take any of this negativity to heart. A lot of these people hurt the American economy by keeping a blinder to everything these criminals do.

You should have come down here. We threw a BBQ bash for a ton of people, and no spanish was spoken, the music was from all of the categories, and the steaks and BBQed chicken were perfect.
A great time was had by all.
You should be happy that we Mexican's celebrate July 4th like if it were our own Independence, which is not in May 5th, is in September 16.

i listen to spanish music all the time and im only 1/2 spanish and i have never been to spain. yesterday..for my 4th of july, i went to a german festival. does that mean i was trying to ignore the United States independence day? no...i went there because it was fun, and later that night...i went on the military base and watched fireworks.
people listen to music in different languages e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y because they like it. NOT because they are trying shove their culture down your throat.
next time just walk up with a bucket of water and "accidentally" spill it on their radio.
