What are your thoughts on illegal immigrants?

Do you think they are hard-working, and do manual labor for little pay, which no other citizen would do?

Or do you have other thoughts about them?

Can you provide support for why you feel that way? Or is it just an opinion?

Answer:
How many of us would be here if immigration controls were in place 100-200 years ago? Now we are here, we must keep them out. Seems to be the sentiment. Legal, Illegal, all the same. My only feeling is that I do want to pay for them. If they can get here they can take care of themselves. Sorry for the illiterate and ignorant people who answered your serious question with slurs and lies. As if they are sooooo superior.
There's no job Americans won't do. They just want to be payed a fair wage for it. They won't pick vegetables for $3 an hour because they don't have to accept that.
I still haven't got around to seeing "A day without a Mexican", but I imagine it may be pretty close to reality.live and let live; I think they contribute more to US economy than they take out of it, and have far less security than those of us lucky enough to be born in US or here legally.
Some are hard working but most are not. That's not the point. The point is they are illegally in this country.EDIT..To the fool above me.We had plenty of "days w/out mexicans 20,30,40 years ago and we were fine/better off.
It doesn't affect me or my job, I'm not going to worry about it either way.
The term "illegal" should be sufficient to explain why most people are dead set against this sham immigration bill. These illegals are law breakers.

No amnesty.
Secure the borders!
Frankly, I don't care if they are hard-working or not. All that matters is that they are ILLEGAL immigrants, which means they have no right to be here and need to leave. Now.
Mexicans live the easy life onces they get past the border. They get a Public Aid card and buy groceries right? Well sort of.. They actually buy goodies for themselves. That's why you see them in cars that make that vibrating sound. I say that it is wrong to let them in cuz they DO NOT pay their taxes but we real people do. Everywhere I go I see mexicans more and more delivering babies at a young age and taxes that americans pay is going to waste because we are spending it on people who are illegal. There use to be peace, society, and order but now look around mexicans are everywhere causing gang violents thinking it's cool. Discusting Pigs.
I think, since they are "Illegal" by definition, that they need to be deported at our earliest convenience.

Edit:

Common sense, Fiscal sense, and Patriotism. I want to protect my Country from those that would sell it out for a few votes. That's as honest as it gets.
sure they are hard workers, but thats not the case, the fact is its not a matter of race its simple economics, lets say they get hurt on the job, and they go to the hospital, who do u think payts for the medical bill, they dont, the tax payers do, also, look at the growing numbers of illegals who are drun k driving and killing american citizens, also for all the immigrants who came to this country the right way, thats a slap in the face to them, to those who struggled to get here and do it the right way
this is a country built of immigrants! Stop blaming immigrants for your problems and own up to them! If other Americans were not taking advantage of them and paying them low dollar with no papers and we didn't have a broken system things would be different. I don't blame people for trying to break free from an oppressive country and make something of themselves like ALL of our ancestors did!! Unless you are Native American in that case all of our immigrant ancestors killed you off and did exactly what our home country's did to us!!
I assume that you are referring to the Mexicans jumping the fence. I believe that they should be shot on sight as felons fleeing. Most are nothing but a drain on society. They receive free health care that in the end costs people like me in higher insurance premiums. They cost my children in their education because they cannot speak the language hence holding back the rest of the class. This thing about doing jobs that most folks will not do is the same argument that was brought up during the days of slavery. Guess what...cotton is still being picked and the workers are being paid. I believe that if you want to enter this country go through the proper channels and do it legally. If you are not willing to do that. Stay in your home country and work for low wages and make it a better place to live.
illegal is illegal. simple as that. deport is a nice word and it works.
Jose and Carlos are panhandling on the street.

Jose drives a Mercedes, lives in a mortgage free house and has a
lot of money to spend.

Carlos only brings in 2 to 3 dollars a day.

Carlos asks Jose how he can bring home a suitcase full of $10 bills
every day.

Jose says "Look at your sign. It says: I have no work, a wife and 6
kids to support".

Carlos says "Yes..., and what does your sign say."?

"Give me $10 to get back to Mexico"
That aught to explain it, they are here for what they can get.
I think the problem is not Mexican immigrants, but actually European immigrants. They are very good at business, and usually start construction companies, this takes work away from Americans who have been in the business for generations. They also get grants and government loans to start businesses and buy homes, which you or I could not even get. And, they think they are better than us. we have Serbs, Polish, and others who are loud, and do not respect their neighbors!
The very first thing these people started out doing is breaking our laws. As in "illegal" alien. It is illegal the way they entered/invaded the country. It is illegal when they use false or forged ID's to get jobs, health care, put their kids in schools and ANYTHING else that requires ID. Perhaps it should be "INVADER" instead of alien in fact! If they weren't breaking the law the smugglers that help them into the country would have occupational licenses , right! They would be paying income taxes on the income they derive from it, right. They would probably be in the yellow pages, right! Have you seen any ads for "aliensmuggling.com " , I think not!!! That's because there are laws against it!
I don't know what is the difference. Because it's always been low wages for minorities. So why the outcry all of a sudden? Were you guys ever around such forums being so critical before the increases? So now years later you fellowmen and women are able to relate?! Thanks for your belated efforts even though Mex. Americans adapted without your inputs. So who really was /is the traitor?
Really is a beach huh?!
It is such a hot topic right now.

I do not begrudge anyone from trying to make a better life for themselves and their families.

What I have a hard time with is the amount of illegal immigrants that march around acting as though we owe them. The ones who burn our flags and act as though they are here to take over.

I don't like feeling hatred towards people, but I find it hard to walk the higher road when I see things like that.
The first Mexicans to become part of the United States never crossed any border. Instead, the border crossed them.
Spanish-speaking people have lived in North America since the Spaniards colonized Mexico in the sixteenth century, and Mexicans have always played a crucial role in the continent's culture and history. Mexican culture brought many firsts to North America: The first Thanksgiving took place in either New Mexico or El Paso; the first university in North America was founded in Mexico City; the first printing press on the continent arrived in Mexico in 1538, more than a century before printing came to New England.
In 1846, everything changed. War broke out between the U.S. and Mexico over the U.S. annexation of Texas. Mexico was defeated, and in 1848 the two nations signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This treaty gave the victorious nation an enormous amount of land, including what would later become the states of California and Texas, as well as parts of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada, in exchange for a token payment of $15 million.
One more important piece of land changed hands in 1854, when the U.S. bought what is now southern Arizona and New Mexico from the Mexican government for $10 million. This land deal, known as the Gadsden Purchase, brought the U.S. a much-coveted railroad route, and helped open the West to further expansion.
With two strokes of a pen, the larger nation had expanded its size by one-third. And almost overnight, tens of thousands of Mexican citizens had become residents of the United States.
