Are the US Immigration laws and policies hypocrtical? What are your best solutions to this enormous problem?
Answer:
I don't know about hypocritical, but they are clearly dysfunctional.
1) Close the border. We MUST know & control who enters our country.
2) Crack down on those who hire & rent to illegals. No jobs, no place to live=they leave.
3) Set reasonable quotas for LEGAL immigration.
I'm not opposed to immigration, only ILLEGAL immigration. I'm opposed to guest workers. I don't want people who will stay a few years & leave. I want people who will come to stay & build better lives for themselves & help build our country. This country was built by immigrants, not guest workers.
Secure the border first. Then have bi-partisan study of the economic impact of deportation verses amnesty. Let the numbers decide.
The only evidence I have that there is an "enormous problem" is a lot of media coverage. Frankly, the level of hysteria around this issue feels manufactured.
Immigration laws exist to protect the country that makes them. What on earth can be hypocritical about that?
It sure seems like it to me!.. if only I could become a Mexican national I would have it made.
No and a belt-fed weapon.
I would say to a certain extent they are. I mean, if you're not here legally then why are you being given access to FREE medical care and welfare? Don't you have to have a social security number for these programs?
My solutions are these: city/state/federal agencies MUST work together. If someone walks into the welfare office for benefits, and they can not prove they have the legal right to be in this country, the eligibility worker needs to notify INS/Homeland Security, whoever, right then & there and investigate this person further...who knows, maybe there's a language barrier & the person left their Visa at home.
The days of granting automatic citizenship to someone born here must stop, b/c that automatically allows the parents welfare. I understand doctors have an oath, but if an illegal walks into your facility to give birth or are in need of medical treatment, administer it, but hold them in jail or something until they pay the bill and then boot their butts out of the country when they pay it.
Lastly, enforce the existing laws we have right now instead of screaming reform or amnesty. There's nothing wrong with what's on the books, problem is no one is enforcing them.
Listen.this is America and our country should put Americans first in everything. Immigrants should not have any rights here at all, lets take care of our fellow Americans first.
Other countries dont even allow immigration..there is no real reason we need immigrants anymore.
There are PLENTY of Americans ready to work for a decent wage.
Its time we took back our country and maybe even changed the form of governmentwe have. We are no longer represented fairly, the representation is for the wealthy and special interests.
Maybe closer than we think...to that special time..time to lock and load
