Need some help from someone in Immigraton if poss please?

I am going through a divorce, and have been married for nearly 7 yrs.
I am a UK citizen, but a US permanent resident. Only got green card 3 yrs ago.
The thing is, my husband is denying that we are even married. He is claiming common law wife instead.
Even though I have the marriage certificate (married in UK) and the fact that I came over as his wife (k3), and now a legal resident married to a US citizen, how else can I prove that our marriage was legal and in fact did happen?
Can I ask INS for any statement from them, or copies of anything that we submitted? Unfortunately my husband has taken most of the paperwork that I had.
Can I get INS help regarding acceptance of proof of marriage and the fact that it is legal?
I am worried that the courts here (OK) might not know whether a UK marriage is legal or not. (Even though husband is denying that we ever had a civil marriage at all!_ Thanks

Answer:
By all means get copies of your records from USCIS (not INS any more) by freedom of information act request. It would be worth paying an attorney to help you there, to make sure you get it in a decent time frame. Since he will have signed under penalty of perjury, it will be interesting to see whether he tells the court he was committing immigration fraud, or drops the matter.

Good luck. He sounds like a real loser.
If you have documentation stating that you were married that he has his signature on, you are covered. Gather all your paperwork. Your soon to be ex needs to be careful. If he knowingly falsified documents he will get into a lot more trouble. I'm thinking he will cool his jets when he learns that.
I am sure you have nothing to worry about. A UK marriage is certainly recognised in the US. You have your marriage certificate, and there should be no problem about getting that verified, for example by the British Embassy. The marriage has already been accepted by USCIS, so he's going to give himself a load of grief if he now tries to make out that it was false.

He sounds like a nasty guy. You should get proper legal advice as for anyone else getting divorced, but don't worry too much about this marriage thing, it's a complete red herring!
I'll help- but it'll cost you!
