Do you find this Andrew Speaker and this Border Patrol Agent an OUTRAGE?

ATLANTA - A globe-trotting Atlanta lawyer with a dangerous strain of tuberculosis was allowed back into the U.S. by a border inspector who disregarded a computer warning to stop him and don protective gear, officials said Thursday.

The inspector has been removed from border duty.

This agent didn't detain him, because he didn't look sick?? He had orders to do so and yet he didn't, why is that?

And whats even more outrageous is that his father in law, a scientist at the CDC, didn't try to stop him from travel ALL over Europe, knowing he was contagious, and how much he put other peoples lives in danger.?! This man should face criminal charges..But, no doubt if he were Juan Lopez, traveling in a bus all over the US, we would be hearing how these illegals are bringing in TB into our country.

What do you say?

Answer:
I would like to answer this in two parts: The agent was certainly at fault for not following orders; according to the AP, when he ran the passport it came up that he was to detain Mr. Speaker and contact health authorties at once. It was never his decision to make in the first place and to make a decision like that based on how someone looks really makes me wonder about how secure our boarders really are. As for Mr. Speaker, I don't think I have ever heard of a more selfish act! He put 80 people at risk for his own gain. He acts like he couldn't be treated in Europe, like it was some third world country with no health care. What really bothers me is that he makes his living as a personal injury attorney but I guess when it comes to his own welfare it doesn't matter what the cost to others is. I think not only should he be sued for damages by the people he put at risk but the government should go after him as well, and he should be disbarred. The guy is a selfish jerk who puts his own agenda ahead of innocent bystanders, but then again, he IS a laywer.
I haven't heard the border officer's side. I understand that once in the country the guy did go right to a hospital, so I am not sure what more the border patrol would have done.

I think it is outrageously irresponsible of the person who knew he was sick and exposed all of those people, though.
The lawyer as soon as soon as cured should stand trial for reckless endangerment of several thousand people and sent to prison for 10 years. He put his damn wedding and honeymoon ahead of the health of everyone he came nto contact with.
I'd say at this point the BP doesn't WANT to do their job as every time they do, they wind up in jail.
while i understand where everyone's outrage is coming from (TB=fatal) i honestly am not angry at all with Mr. Speaker. I'm sorry, but whether you like it or not, Andrew is a U.S. citizen, and regardless of where he contracted the disease he should not have been denied treatment at home. He only came back to the US fearful that he wouldn't receive adequate health treatment elsewhere, and although he should not have endangered the lives of other people, he is STILL a US citizen who DESERVES to get the treatment a US citizen is entitled to. If were that border patrol, I would've let him back in too. While I sympathize with those that were exposed to Andrew in flight, and may have contracted the disease, the government when it was aware of Andrew's TB should've helped him earlier rather than leaving him in a foreign country to fend for himself, banished. Does this ourage mean we are going to simply outcast all of our sick now? Banish those with AIDS? How about the poor too?
This man seems to only think about himself. On the morning news on ABC he was whining about how he couldn' kiss his wife and didn't have $100,000 for a private flight back to the U.S. --please the man and his extended family went to Europe for a fancy wedding and honeymoon for weeks -- and he really wants everyone to feel sorry for his "poor" pitiful self. I don't think so, the man is criminal.
I have been reading alot about this lately, and how people are turning this into a black/white thing. And people say the whites are racist? To answer your misinformed question, Its not the color of his skin that will let him walk free. Its money. If he has enough of it, he will walk free, if not, he will be treated like the rest of us. OJ got off with the sake of having enough money not becuase of his skin color. Im tired of people saying they dont want racism but yet those same people play the racism card the other way.

As far as an illegal alien goes, yes there would be more of an uproar becuase for one they are illegal, not paying united states taxes, why should the united states foot the bill for their health care?

Since we are such a giving country, we should give the alien a 100 dollar bill, send them back across the boarder, and tell them "good luck".
