Does the U.S. economy depend on illegal immigrant workers?
Answer:
hell yea!! Who else is going to do those low paying jobs??? Who else is going to pay into social security and never collect any of that money back?? Who else is going to work in fields with awful working condition and hardly no money??
Yes it does, especially the agriculture sector.
They hurt the economy. Healthcare, education, you name it. They do good in the agriculture business but the US can survive without them.
Just to buy stuff at garage sales.
Most definitely in agriculture. In Colorado, they are contacting prisons because the illegal immigrants are not returning in big numbers for harvest season.
No... That is just an excuse. I'm paying into my taxes to support illegals with social service, medical & education benefits just for them to make sure I have a head of lettuce at my table!!! Where is the fair trade in this??
of course
Unlawful Entry is a CRIME. Zero tolerance for immigration-law violators! No amnesty, no "stealth-amnesty." No "change of status," marriage fraud, "exceptional leave to remain," no "Temporary Protected Status." If you break the law, depart or be deported. Illegal aliens kill more US citizens each year than the war in Iraq has killed in four years. Apologists for illegal immigration like to paint it as a victimless crime. But in fact, illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children. Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard wages and working conditions depresses the wages of American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees. Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland. Taxpayers are being forced to pay for the free health care, education, and other welfare programs being given to illegal aliens; Those tax dollars could be given back to U.S. taxpayers or used to keep our borders secure; They may be here illegally, but they sure know how to "work the system" to collect "free" medical care, "free" education, "free" food, Section 8 housing vouchers and other housing assistance, and hundreds of other social services. It costs citizens additional hundreds of billions of tax dollars at every level: local, state, and federal. It gobbles up billions of our charitable contributions. And much of that money ends up siphoned out of our economy and into offshore accounts. Illegal aliens, over half of whom work "under the table" with neither job nor income reported (nor taxed), are not counted as employed or unemployed. But some of those day-labor and off-the-books "job-lets" would be "real" jobs - available to American citizen job-seekers - if employment regulations were enforced. Illegal aliens can get away with tax evasion, et al., which citizens cannot. In short, we have too many workforce entrants and too few jobs created. The ratio works out to roughly 7-10 workforce entrants per job created. If all illegal aliens depart or are deported, all legal immigration halted, and all temporary employment visas abolished, we still have a problem with more US-born workforce entrants than new jobs created. Illegal immigration damages our country and our citizens every day at every level. And not even the attacks of 2/26 and 9/11 have awakened many Americans to the vast dangers illegal immigration poses to our selves, our families, our communities, our society, our values, our principles, our civilization. Zero Tolerance for Immigration-Law Violators! We must remember the lessons of 2/26, 9/11, and the costs we bear every single day. God Bless the U S A !
No, it depends on labor & supply/demand. In terms of labor, manual and other kinds, but hopefully cheap labor. The only reason illegals are popular is the morons work for waaaay less then they should, or what the job should pay. your average White guy or Black guy laying brick might get $20/hour. then Pedro shows up, he's desperate, he's illiterate, he cant even speak English and he agrees to lay brick for $9/hour. So, Mr. Biz owner is happy, Mr. White and Black labor is laid off, and Pedro goes on about his work. Hunky Dory right? Wrong. What people miss is the hidden cost of illegals like Pedro, who havnt been trained, dont listen to instruction because they cant speak English, and therefor cause more harm then good. Constrcution jobsite accidents due to language barrier are very common. Not to mention shoddy workmanship by illegals. In the end it costs us more to have them here then we save by having them here.
No it doesn't. The idea that illegal immigrants are necessary for the U.S. economy is a degenerate Yuppie idea.
What illegal immigration does is make the US economy more two tiered. It creates haves and have-nots. Truly needy who can't pay for college and truly greedy.
It is true that illegal immigration often lowers the cost of goods. However, it also lowers workers pays. The only reason that Americans won't do "those jobs" that illegals often do, is because they pay so low. So without illegal immigration, goods would be more expensive, but workers could make more money.
With the system today(and the way it is going), a few wealthy Americans will buy lots of cheap goods that they don't need, while the rest will struggle to buy things that are good for them and that they do need.
This is harmful in the longterm to the US economy in the long run, although it is slightly beneficial(on average in dollar terms, not for most Americans) in the short run. When workers pays drop and they lose jobs in the short run, they can buy the cheap goods with saved up money. However, in the long run, their savings dwindle and the wealthy executives start investing in other nations(like China!!!) and those elite Americans ultimately spend more money in foreign countries than in America, hurting America.
To keep it wicked simple, the government's view of illegal immigrant workers create a more solid class society where there is a large lower class and most of its members are not able to become middle or upper class. It destroys the American dream.
No, if immigrant workers want to work the fields, they can get a temporary workers permit, the ones coming over illegally never helped in the past and they certainly aren't helping now. As I've said in the past, our highschool kids can't find jobs because all the illegals are doing the jobs that they used to do in order to make a few bucks a week and have movie money, weekend money, and money to put away for a car. Now, parents have to pay for thier teens to go out, they have to buy them a car, and they have to foot the bill for anything thier kids want to do, cause the kids can't do the jobs that are taken by these illegals. Granted, they aren't going to make a career choice to do this for the rest of their lives, but neither are the illegals who pushed them out of these jobs. Parents can't expect their kids to learn what it means to make money, since there aren't any gas stations that hire American kids, they are mostly owned by Indians and other immigrants, the convenience stores that they used to work in are no longer hiring kids, only WaWa and here in NJ, Heritages are still American run stores left since we sold out to Immigrants. So, why are Americans unable to put money in the bank and save. Maybe it's because they are being drained dry by having to continue to shovel out money for thier kids. Times have changed since I was a teenager, I had a job at the age of 14, and never asked my mother or father for a dime, I earned everything I owned, and I was proud of it. So, no the economy would be served far better if the illegals stopped taking jobs, we have many teens who would be better served by having jobs they could work, and parents could put thier money in the bank, instead of their kids hands. We can't all afford to bring our children up the same way the Bush's raised thier little Georgie, we don't have that kind of money.
No...they directly compete with Americans for jobs and drive down wages.
"Agriculture" is brought up repeatedly, as if that is the only job field they work in, but IN FACT illegal aliens work in MANY job fields in every state of the union.
The US economy NEEDS hard workers period..
yes
there would be americans that would take those jobs that illegals fill up
hotel houskeeping (elderly retired americans used to be able to find those jobs, now they can't because spanish is required) americans that have been recently discarged from prisions used to find jobs as farm laborers. now they can't find work.
Illegals are not good for our economy
Without a good guest worker program we will see much higher food prices because no one else will do the dirty work. The h2 program that currently exist is no good.
No, but if you tell a lie over and over, some will take it as Gospel
The U.S. prostituted it's self out to become the leader of the "New World Order" - by sending jobs overseas and strengthening the countries that always end up turning on us (like the new British government) - So, in order to compete with India, Taiwan, China, and all the others - we have to accept slave wages that only the illegal immigrants are willing to take - in order to compete with this "new world economy" that we manufactured. Remember " When you hold up your middle finger at someone - there are always four fingers pointing back at you!".
No No No. It simply doesn't. Illegals lower wages and take jobs.
NO, it did all right without them before they came here and would do if they went back.
