Because if you´re not you descend from immigrants. And those immigrants were fortunate enough to be accepted in the land of the free and home of the brave. If they were harassed and deported you might not even exist.
You talk about criminals in recent raids in L.A. and I imagine that you are probably talking about Latino illegal aliens.

Well they do pay taxes...SS into the phony SS accounts. Money that will never be paid back to them. they pay sales tax, fuel tax, road tax. Our immigration system is antiquated have you ever seen the lines going around the block of people trying to do it right. If I were you I would be more upset with the fact that our ports are still run by a company from Dubai ...less than 5% of incoming freight is inspected..Now that scares me.

They are criminals and should be treated as such if you don't see the problems they are causing then unfortunately your children will. We elected our government to secure our borders, protect our country and "judge who can come in and who cannot!!! Such as drug smugglers and their drugs, weapons, murderers, rapists, and any other criminals. Our border protection people also check people for diseases entering our country so they don't bring diseases we eradicated years ago. This is happening today, don't you realize this? Our borders also need to monitored to prevent people from "merely entering illegally". Millions of people have immigrated to the U.S. legally, and in the process the border protection people check for the above listed problems. This is the only way people should be admitted to our country for citizenship. We have to protect our citizens!!!!!!
Good question! Why do people support lawbreakers entering the USA looking for a better life? I read some of the answers before responding, & to the writer who said we were all illegal who came here! WRONG, We still have legal methods and "Quotas" for people who want to come to America! Prior to Federal Immigration Laws, it was a State issue. But, aprox 1882 the First Immigration Law was passed in Congress. Soom after a law was passed excluding Chinese! Thousands of Chinese laborers worked on the railroad's, first coast to coast rail line (1860's)!

Most who come here, were wanting to do work, make a better life, as most early settlers from 1600 forward? Some wanted religious freedoms, some to get out of prison, some out of debt.

Now the political reason, why politicians want to support and defend illegals? They want their vote! Our President says, they will do work, Americans won't do? Picking strawberries comes to mind, lots of crop harvests! But, yes they don't want to wait
until their legal quotas comes up. Some do terrible things and flee back to their countries to escape punishment. Mexico won't extridite any, where they face the death pentalty. Many of the terrorists hijacking the planes on 9/11 were not legal at the time of that attack, having overstayed their visis! If farm workers can cross our borders, you don't think people who want to do us harm, bringing in bombs, germs, etc.can't do the same?
Illegals are costing border states $Millions to educate, health care, social services and why don't our politicians stop it? They think, that they will vote for them! .... I believe? As the original poster stated "An Illegal Alien is NOT A RACE". Not all illegal aliens are Mexican. Not all illegal aliens arrested and deported are Mexicans. So anyone trying to turn it into a racial issue is wrong.
1.The race of the criminals arrested in the recent raids do not matter, except to those who are trying to twist the facts and make it into a racial issue. They were illegal aliens AND hardened criminals, no matter what their race, their arrest was justified.
