What do legal immigrants think on the issue?

What do immigrants who have come to the US and became citizens legally think of illegal immigration and amnesty? Does illegal immigration bring negative consequences to legal immigrants? (I know some people disagree with the terms legal and illegal but that is the clearest way I can think to pose the question)

Answer:
I never considered myself an immigrant since I was born here (my gt gt grandparents came here), but since pro illegals keep calling me and everyone else an immigrant, I'll take the question...illegal immigration does not solve or teach anyone anything good. It means that our laws do not mean anything and it is disrespectful to all of those who followed the correct policies that are in place.

Co-workers of my immigrated here between 5 - 15 years back (depending on each one) and they think it is wrong because they followed the laws. There should not be any special treatment.
This is country is not very good to immigrants, legal or illegal. I have had plenty of bad experiences and will remain here only as long as i can further my education.
That whole "give me your tired and poor" stuff is just a lie. This country has not only actively exploited my country's natural resources for a century, it has the gull of mistreating me and my people when we come here to work and study. Now they even want to intervene MY country.
You don't want me here, I don't want you there. Stop making enemies all over the world and treat your guests properly.
well i cant speak for all immigrants who did it legally of course but my wife who is hispanic hates it and hates them and thinks if they didnt do it legally then they should be kicked out
I'm sure they don't think it's fair. I would be pissed if I had to take all those tests and stuff to be a citizen (my mom had to, she's from europe) and then you had all these people just waltzing in like they own the place and then expecting people to hand them everything. It would be like me breaking into your house, doing your dishes and then demanding you to pay me.
Legal hispanic/mexican are suffering a huge backlash and it's a shame.ALL of my legal Mexican friends are 100% against illegal immigration/amnesty.
Here is a perfect example of how SOME legal immigrants feel! And I love and respect them and feel that they are TRUE Americans! Unfortunately, they even get bullied by other pro-illegal mexicans for speaking up and out against illegal immigrants! What a crying shame! All Americans need to recognize this group and others like them and support their efforts. They were definitely at the March for America Rally! http://www.dontspeakforme.org/ Other great Americans were there speaking out against this treasonous bill also, you should check them out if you havn't seen them: http://www.lframerica.com
I'm all for legal immigrants. But the illegal ones, im sorry, but get out. its terrible that the legal ones worked so hard to be allowed to stay, but now all these illegal people are coming in from only the Lord know where, and they're trying to get OUR jobs. I wouldn't have a problem with them getting the jobs we have hear, if they were legal citizens. And as a member of Americas youth, if I am unable to get my first job because an illegal citizen is working there, I will probably go home and get on the next flight with a load of people I know to some foreign country and take all of their jobs.

to the guy under me:
if they want to be known as "aliens" and pretend to be big huge green things with gynormus black eyes, they can be my guest. but we don't need you to tell us the "correct" term.
I would have to classify as one of those "legal" aliens. Note that I used the correct term ... alien, NOT immigrant.

I have been butting my head up against the bureaucracy of government for some time now, and seem to end up further behind than ahead on each successive pass. And it isn't like I'm just some schmoe working for peanuts, either ... I was brought in to help the American economy at great expense to an American corporation, because there isn't anyone who's qualified to do the job within the US borders. It took the company in question 5 years to prove that point to the satisfaction of the government, but they managed it ... and here I am today.

I do not intend to ever go the whole way and apply for citizenship - for one thing, by the time I am eligible for such an undertaking, I suspect the rules would require me to renounce my original homeland in favor of my new country ... and I'm not willing to do that. Probably never will be, in fact.

I strongly believe that those who have entered the country illegally (in whatever fashion) should be treated as criminals ... it's at least as bad a crime as breaking-and-entering, on a national scale. If the penalty is deportation - do it. There's no extenuating circumstances ... either you came in and lived by the rules, or you didn't.

I am here legally - but I STILL have the same constraints applied to me as does an illegal. My right to vote is non-existent, my ability to move freely within the country is curtailed, my ability to choose employers is limited, and my choice to avail myself of the school system is non-existent. It's even worse for my wife ... as one who is effectively my dependent (according to the rules set up on the visa applications), she doesn't have a right to anything that Americans take for granted - not even a taxpayer identification number, a bank account, a credit card, ownership or property, or a driver's license.
YES, I DON'T HAV A clue.
