When our traitorous government refuses to enforce the laws that are already on the books and says it can't deport 12-20 million illegal immigrants, how, prey tell is it going to enforce the new law? Just like the amnesty 0f 1986, I'd be willing to bet that there will be no enforcement whatsoever. Chertoff is already claiming that he wants to go after the drug dealers and the terrorists and not the maids and farm workers and factory workers -- What a stupid idiot! Doesn't he understand that at least one of the terrorists who were going to attack Ft. Dix was a pizza delivery person? What did the others do? Where did the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11/01 work? They were model residents according to all reports. These people who were going to attack Fort Dix were living in a Sanctuary City and were NOT model residents. One had over 19 traffic violations.
How is giving these illegal immigrants a path to citizenship going to bring them out of the shadows? What is their incentive -- a $5,000 fine that they can pay over an 8 year period? How is it going to be enforced?
I would support a Z visa if it required an immediate return to their country of origin for the entire family -- not just the head of the household (what kind of crap is the head of household bit?) and if it required that they be finger printed and bio identified and if they were given a special kind of card that would put them ahead of the line when the borders are re-opened. However, under no circumstances do I support giving their children citizenship just because they are born on American soil -- that would have to be repealed. Additionally, since the illegals pay upwards of $15,000 to have themselves smuggled into the country, a $5,000 fine is not enough and 8 years is too long to let them have to pay it, especially since they already send 50% of their income back to Mexico or their country of origin. I would support a requirement that $15,000 would have to be paid before they could re-enter the country with their Z Visa.
I would support an immediate securing of our borders and opening immediate security checkpoints in all areas where there is a known concentration of illegal immigrants. Everyone of these people should be required to show identification and the excuse the government could use to make it legal would be to check for terrorists and potential terrorists -- in the interest of National Security. If these people come forward immediately, of their own volition and are fingerprinted and biometrically I.D., they could be given a "report to process I.D. that would prevent their immediate deportation and would put them in line for the Z Visas. Process them out and give those who come forward voluntarily preferred positions in line. However, we need to close our borders immediately so we can get a handle on all those who are currently here. If after, say 90 days, the illegals have not come forward, then any of them caught without proper identification should be loaded on trains, boats, planes and other forms of transportation and shipped out with nothing more than the clothes on their backs and their finger prints and bio ID and pictures on file with ICE. Zero tolerance for lawbreakers.
We need to ensure that we have a tamper proof bio Id and fingerprint system ready to go and we should hire people like me -- loyal U.S. Citizens to help process these people. I'd be glad to spend however much time it takes to take their pictures and finger print them and develop a secure database.
Libraries and School Districts and Employers should be able to take pictures and document these illegal immigrants and send those documents to ICE. After all we have quarterly taxes and other federal forms that must be filed -- why not alien reports? Why not have Social Security and IRS talking to each other and immediately targeting people with false or illegal social security numbers? We could get a handle on this very quickly if the traitorous government would stop making excuses for failure to do its job and do their jobs.
How would you determine which illegal immigrants came before 1/1/07?
This bill sucks. Why can't the government enforce the laws that are already on the books? Why not give the U.S. Citizens something to believe? If the Government enforces the laws on the books today -- starting right now, it would be a showing to U.S. Citizens that the Government is sincere is trying to secure our borders.

It's a crock of * that gives illegals legal status. The bill is BS and is only tough on future immigrants. The democrats are pushing to grant immediate legal status to 12 million illegals. This is unacceptable. My representatives have already heard from me.

Against. We are rewarding people for an illegal activity. As one who's in the immigration process, I find it totally unfair that anyone should get a free pass. I am all for immigration, but legal immigration.

The U.S. prostituted it's self out to become the leader of the "New World Order" - by sending jobs overseas and strengthening the countries that always end up turning on us (like the new British government) - So, in order to compete with India, Taiwan, China, and all the others - we have to accept slave wages that only the illegal immigrants are willing to take - in order to compete with this "new world economy" that we manufactured. Remember " When you hold up your middle finger at someone - there are always four fingers pointing back at you!".
Common sense tells me that it won't work. How are illegal aliens making 10,000 dollars a year supposed to come up with a $5,000.00 fine? This will just drive illegals further into the shadows. I think we should put up the fence that was approved by congress and then deal with deportation. Sucure our borders first.
