Would this idea solve immigration problems?
-we wouldnt be rude to Mexico.
-we would get Illegals out of our country or at least prevent more of a flow.
- cut greenhouse gasses by not having to ship so many things over the pacific.
-Slow China's growth
Answer:
Not a bad idea. After all, immigrants claim their reason for coming to the US is for jobs. What excuse would they have if their country had plenty of jobs?
While we're cutting off China, let's send them surplus birth control.
Better, but better still, let American craftsmen make them here.
hmmm
An idea I can agree with.
Interesting idea, but the inevitable result would be a shooting war with China. We have progressed into some kind of bizarre symbiotic relationship with them. They need us to buy their crap, and we need them to stock up Wal-Mart.
If the solution to the problem was that simple, it would have already been done. Perhaps in the long run, a war with China is inevitable anyway. We are already pretty close to a "Cold War" with them. It may just start out as a "Trade War"
The spark is Taiwan. If they ever try to take back control of Taiwan, then the end is near. China is the only country on the planet with enough power to compete economically with America and Europe.
Free Trade prevents wars. That is the bottom line. That is why all our "leaders" have adopted a free trade agreement with China, even to our own economic detriment. Our problem is that our greedy corporate freaks can't see the long term benefit of keeping the manufacturing here in the USA. All they see is how to make a quick buck for themselves. The Chinese have a culture of planning ahead for generations. That is why they are still going strong even with Communism.
Let's face it. China is the next "Superpower" in the world, and it won't be their first time at the game. Nothing is going to stop that. I say let them have it. They can police the world if they want to. Then maybe the freaks will see them as the next "Great Satan" instead of us. I would be willing to give up my HDTV for that.
didnt Master Lock, GM and half of the other major companies that used to be in the USA try that?
Maybe this is a motive behind NAFTA and the further integration of western hemisphere economies into ours. I believe we are encouraging this integration to offset competition from China as well as the European Union.
It won't happen and it can't happen. The US doesn't do trade deals with China, corporations do business deals with Chinese companies. Walmart is probably the biggest trader with China, and I thought that it would be a great idea for Walmart to start manufacturing clothing and other products in factories in Mexico. Why not contact Walmart and make that suggestion to them?
You are correct though that we should not be doing business with the most powerful Communist nation in the world, and it is ridiculous not to have relations with Cuba.
Well there is a good thought in there, but we need to deport illegals & take care of U.S. citizens first.
