Should a person be allowed to reside in the US illegally, with no documentation?

See, I didn't call anyone an "alien" (I clearly know that no one comes here from Mars, Neptune, Mercury, or wherever else the opposition mentions.) I didn't say anything INHUMANE. I didn't question why illegal immigrants still choose to bring children into their already unstable life and questionable status...ok, it's their business, right? Irresponsible business, I'd say. I simply asked "Should a person be allowed to reside in the US illegally, with no documentation?" May I come in your house univited? Probably not; you'd call the police! What if I wased the dishes, the laundry, planted flowers, and cooked a delicious lobster dish? You'd still say "Sir, who are you? Why are you in my kitchen?" What if you put me out and I came back?! What if I accidentally killed the dog? What if I reasoned, "well, no one wants to clean this dump but me! Let me stay because I'm so helpful?" This is a national security issue! Get it, yet?! If not, I'm coming over tonite, See ya soon!

Answer:
I am a legal American Citizen, born and raised in this country. I have lived in another country, but not without proper authorization according to the laws of that country. Illegal immigration amounts to INVASION. There are many reasons why persons may want to reside in a different place than their home land, however, it must be done legally. And that means standing in line, just like my ancestors did when they immigrated, just like many of my friends did when they immigrated. This country was founded on a lawful basis and the current crop of illegal immigrants has decided that they will just "take" as much as they can get, callling it their civil right, work in this country paying minimal taxes, if any, calling it their civil right and then retiring back to their home country, again calling it their civil right. There are many who illegally cross our borders to receive good medical care, who own property in their home country, and this too, is their civil right. Civil right? In my country, you're supposed to be a legal citizen in order to enjoy these civil rights. And that means being a documented legal citizen. I believe that illegal immigrants should be sent back to their homelands and that does include those who have expired visa's and then their homelands billed for time and services for their return.

Legal immigration is the proper way. Not amnesty or "guest worker programs". It's time we stood up for our country, this land that we love.

At this time in our country's life, our Founding Fathers would not be proud.
No. And the proper term IS alien.

Technically, no. Given our relatively open borders, however, it will continue until we spend a TON of money on it. And that's not likely to happen until some terrorist commits a significant act and is found to have come in illegally.

That's the way we do things in this country. For example: nearly drop the Twin Towers with a bomb in 1993 and we send the FBI after ya; drop 'em in 2001 and we send the whole package after ya. Not terribly efficient but, like I say, that's the way we deal with our problems.
No.
Here is the meaning of alien
a: belonging or relating to another person, place, or thing : strange b: relating, belonging, or owing allegiance to another country or government : foreign

They are illegal aliens. Lets call a spade a spade here.
no, and helll no.
there are masses of crimminal gang memebers strolling about arrogantl;y daring the USA to stop them...does Bushco care? NO! he's profiting as the public picks up the tabs, its a deal he made for cafta and nafta so the cartels could take over all the resources of the lands and drive the peasents here for us to support...its a fact! thats what those trade agreements have done..
no they should not be allowed to be here illegally

it is ILLEGAL
You are correct. But, you are talking about illegal aliens, as that is the appropriate word for any person in this country illegally or who doesn't have proper legal documentation, as there are many with forged papers that tend to make them appear legal. The answer is no and our government has failed and will continue to fail as our politicians are to chicken to stop it as they think it may cost their party votes. I say vote them all out and vote for politicians that will back our Constitution.
answer is simply NO, i am an immigrant and i dont think its OK for illegal immigrants to be here and take job opportunities that everyone else needs, if you want to be in any country, you have to obey the law, and simplest law says you have to be LEGAL
Alien is a perfectly valid and correct term that can be used to refer to someone from another country.

I read the 'house' analogy a lot and it's invalid. It doesn't take into account the fact that for years many illegal aliens were encouraged to come to this house and the government that was supposed to keep them out, or show them the door if they got in, failed to do it's job. Now we're blaming it all on the unwanted house guest. When is the home owner going to take some responsibility?
NO.
In answering your question, I will pose some for you. Have you ever exceeded the speed limit on the highway? If you had an emergency and you had to get someplace ASAP, traffic is light and you would pose no danger to anyone else, would you speed out of necessity?

Why do you think people come to the US illegally? Do you have any idea how restrictive immigration laws are? Did you know that hundreds of kids (often orphans or abused kids or kids fleeing gang violence) come alone from Central America every month? Are you aware that the US federal government estimates that hundreds of thousands of women and children are trafficked into the US each year in what is known as modern day slavery? George Bush started an initiative to combat modern day slavery and the federal government is taking it very seriously. Did you know that US citizen men marry women in other countries, bring them here illegally (or bring them on visas, but then do not help them become permanent residents) and use their illegal status as a way to control them so that they can abuse them to their hearts delight? Did you know that people come from many countries fleeing persecution and if they stayed in their home countries, they would be tortured and murdered?

Who are you to judge who should and should not have children? You write about "illegal immigrants" as if they were a lower form of being than yourself. You probably don't even know that often immigrants who work in low-paying service industries were well-respected, wealthy members of their communities in their own countries. Do you think anyone would seriously come to the US to clean toilets when in their own country they had staff to do it for them if it wasn't for a serious reason?

Do you SERIOUSLY think that the examples I cited above present issues of national security? If you do, then please explain how these are issues of national security.

How about if the person in your home (refering to your analogy) said, let me stay because if you put me out I will die? Let me stay, because if you put me out I will be tortured and I have no where else to go. Let me stay because one of your family members brought me here, abused me and now I have no place to go.

Here's an answer. It's not a black or white issue. You need to be informed about all of the gray areas and you clearly are not. It isn't just Mexicans swimming across the border to get a job. The second part to the answer is that some people who currently do not have a way to remain legally, should be provided an avenue to do so.

To conclude, how did your forefathers get to the US?
