Will the conservatives who rail against immigration be upset when the Iraqis start arriving?
Don't get me wrong, I'll welcome them with open arms - but it seems to me that the same Americans who were so gung-ho to go to war are the exact same Americans crying about an "invasion" of Mexicans (who just so happen to be the backbone of the American agricultural industry).

they will come LEGALLY;
they will be political refugees, not merely economic ones; and
they will not claim that this is really THEIR country and try to tell US what to do.
PS the majority of farmworkers, across every job description, are American.
as long as they do it legally, they are welcome in the US.
as for the Mexicans: the ones that come legally are also welcomed, a large majority don't, and those are the ones that we have a problem with
they automatically get green cards because they get refugee status

I rail against Illegal immigration, but I welcomed the Vietnamese who came here after the Fall of Saigon. I'd welcome any Iraqis whom we betray and abandon in a similar fashion - though, I'd prefer that we not betray or abandon them.

You will not have millions of Iraqis coming here.and no, we wouldn't care if some immigrated because they would probably do it the right way. Because of that, I would have more respect for them.

Conservatives in America (not Republicans, though some are true conservatives) are NOT against immigration. They ARE against ILLEGAL immigration and the security threat posed by having such open borders. The Left likes to portray the Right as people who hate the idea of immigration, legal or illegal, which is simply not the case.
True conservatives call for the sealing up of the borders first before addressing the issues of dealing with illegal aliens and those who employ them as well as the issue of streamlining the process of legal immigration.
It isn't about Latin Americans, but numbers, failing services like education, costs and inability to pay in taxes what they use in resources.
And the Iraqi's are refugees. We have been taking refugees all along and would seem a bit more responsible for these than most.
