because the lottery is to promote more diversity in the US, to encourage countries with low immigration rates. and besides...why wold you want to leave england??? i think we want to save it for people who deserve it, and i'm not sure the british "need" the US for anything...it's not really going to change your lifestyle, give you a job opportunity you didn't have at home, improve your quality of life or anything like that

It would be fair if there weren't so many millions illegally here from a single country, but as it is, it does seem a bit ironic.
Because UK is considered one of those countries that has a free visa waiver program where their nationals don't need a visa to visit the USA, hence it's much for easier for them to migrate to USA as against nationals of other countries who need a visa and have a slim chance if any of getting one by applying through normal means.
Wow, I find that rather offensive. Although I think anyone with something to offer, who can't be proven a terrorist should be allowed to immigrate here legally and become a citizen if they so choose, rather than forcing some people to marry for citizenships sake. Thats just wrong.
