But placing all that aside, the fact that the illegals from Britain would speak English and come form a much more similar culture would seem to me to make them far more easily assimilable as American citizens. The cultures of such countries as Mexico and Guatemala are an uneasy blend of Spanish and pre-Columbian cultures, and far more different from the culture of the US than is that of Britain. As recently as 1964, for example, a Mexican father sacrificed his first-born son to the rain god.

Mostly based on Race. I think the majority of people will say it is not a motivation, but I would say most of them are trying to be politically correct.
At one time in our countries history the Irish and Italians were the laborers being treated as outcasts (legal and not), and now it is the Hispanics.
We want these laborers here to do our work, and we don't complain about the money they spend in our stores or renting our properties, but at the end of the day we want to pretend that we don't need them here.
You want to stop the high number of illegal immigrants, then end the need for cheap labor. Stop artificially raising the minimum wage and stop the welfare state so that we have 100% of americans contibuting at a fair rate for the work being done. Then fix the work visa program so that when we do need more help it doesn't take months/years to get the needed labor.

People assume that the only immigrants are of Mexican origin, which can't be true. Was it not immigrants that came to our country with a plot to destroy us? We can't stop terrorists from coming in if we don't do something about immigration.
No because England is a developed nation and British people would not be coming here to get social services that they weren't getting at home. In fact they get more social services in England. Also, their cost of living is higher in England so usually they get paid higher salaries. They wouldn't take away from Americans by coming here. If anything, they might enhance it. And I'm speaking 100% from an economic standpoint, not a racial one.

We do have thousands of immigrants come from India, Russia, Japan, China, etc. It just seems we only cater to those from Spanish speaking countries. Imagine the outcry if McDonalds products were written in Hindi or Russian.

I do not care what the nationality is, if the person is coming here illegally, the vast majority of the U.S. citizens do not want to have to support and be responsible for criminals. We do enough of that as it is with the prison systems. The health care system is burdened with welfare recipients who are here illegally. We should not have to be responsible for their health care or pay taxes for welfare for them because they do not speak English and cannot secure a job or one that will pay enough to support them. Americans will not be able to have it's own universal health care system for tax paying citizens as long as the system is broken. One of my grandparents came here as a legal immigrant. He never took anything from the government and had his own businesses to take care of his family. Even if his English was not the best, he still did his best to be an American. It is an insult to those who come here legally.
My opinion is that we don't need people who sacrifice children to rain gods.

It isnt just england. I havent seen groups formed like La Raza and talk of places like Aztlan from illegals from anywhere in europe or asia. I havent seen them organize marches. At these marches besides the mexican flag a waving I have seen one other flag once. People from europe definitely and usualy from asian countries, already know english fairly well and dont expect the USA to operate in their language.
There are concerns of gangs and of contagious diseases as you mentioned also but its mainly attitude that turn me off to many hispanic illegals.
My friend and I were talking about it and he said.. you know.. if they would have learned english.. minded their own business.. not ran around waving flags in peoples faces and holding marches, most people wouldnt have even noticed and evetually in a quiet manner we would have ended up mostly hispanic in the USA. Its attitude that has gotten people angry.

English people like their own country...they have a pretty good govt. there...they wouldn't come over to depend on the government for Health care, food, housing, SSI, etc. they would come over with a plan and maybe even make the US better.
Mexico, Cuba, etc..have terrible governments and they are trying to leave at any cost! Most of the time when they make it over here, we, the US taxpayers, are paying the cost for their health insurance, food, housing, etc! They expect us to learn THEIR language when ENGLISH is our native language, they fly their flags and disrespect ours, the list really goes on and on
