If press 2 for Spanish is acceptable in the USA, is there a press 2 for English in Latin American?
Answer:
Touche' - my husband just saw a t shirt at the shore with that slogan on it- "Why should I have to press 2 for English when I live in America".
Also tell me why our school districts have to bear the expense of having bilingual teachers in elementary schools----last time I checked--all of OUR ancestors who came to this country had to learn the language or LEAVE--what makes it so different in the 21st century?
No,I don't think they would.
Of course not, we would learn to speak the native language.
not until Texas gets pissed and takes over Mexico
Ha I doubt that!
if you've ever been to Latin America you would know that Latin Americans are very accommodating to Americans are their money. in fact too accommodating.
Most of the time it's a business decision. Businesses accommodate their customers and the language they speak.
Actually some already do.Some Banks in Mexico for example, do have an English menu..And don't forget the American & British Embassy.lol
Yeah, right, I am sure. LOL
No they don't.
Not a chance.
The illegal aliens "expect" us to provide services like free schooling, free medical, welfare, food stamps, housing, a safe environment in which to live and work, instant citizenship for anchor babies, etc. Yet none of these things are given to Americans who are in latin countries LEGALLY!
Better yet: There are Cinco de Mayo parades all over the US on May 5th. Are there Independence Day parades all over Mexico on July 4th?
When I lived in Spain, everywhere I went, even restaurants, had English as an option. Now, I know it's Spain and not Latin America or Mexico, but do you think any Spanish only speaking person could ask for a menu in Spanish at just about any restaurant (including mom and pop shops) here in the US? Uh, probably not.
This opens up an even larger question. Why Spanish? There is a Home Depot in my area that makes all announcements in English and Spanish. The self check-out kiosks have a choice of English and Spanish. The issue is, there are almost no Spanish speaking people in the store. The store is located in a primarily Chinese American area. Most all of the customers speak English or Chinese. Yet not one Chinese word appears on any label or any sign or is offered as an option at the check-out.
It almost seems that there is a conspiracy to make America a two language country, English and Spanish. Why?

everyone on this page sucks yall need 2 stop your cryin fuckin babys janoism is so gay
Actually I go to Mexico often on Biz and Pleasure. Most stuff is in both languages.
But I learned Spanish to more easily understand...
haha actually yeah, I used calling cards in Mexico last December and they had a Spanish & an English option
No. Who cares?
What part of "free market" and "capitalism" do you not understand? Companies have a right to accomodate their customers. Are you advocating adopting a Soviet-style system where the government tells companies how to do business?
Let's be honest, most countries in the world speak at least 2 languages. Why don't we?? Laziness perhaps??
I heard that in Mexico you have to press "FU" for English.
Some of you don't understand...this is strictly a business issue. If the business wants to make money, they'd cater to the public that they want to reach, specifically people who speak Spanish. Money talks, bs walks. Vice versa in Latin America.
So your telling me the government ain't a business?
i live in mexico, yeah absolutely we have english options but mostly it depends on where are you calling
Belize is a Latin American Country whose primary language is English.
I doubt it very seriously!
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha yeah....right
When in Costa Rica the average Costa Rican didn't know English and I felt like it was not their place to Accommodate me. It was my responsibility to learn Spanish. They did have some programs that was on cable in English...I think CNN
I am sure they will have something in English if money is involved. In Europe is see the Native language first the German then English in many places. The language of the country is always first though.
