Should employers feel the heat on immigration?

Phoenix - Arizona leads the nation in population growth. More illegal immigrants cross its border than any other in the United States. Now, in an apparent backlash to those trends, the state is leading the charge to halt illegal immigration by cracking down on employers.
Its new law effectively sets up a two-strikes penalty. A business employing an illegal immigrant would have its business license suspended temporarily. A second offense would mean a permanent revocation of that license.
Answer:
Yes, employers are breaking the law when they hire illegal aliens. What about the word illegal is so hard to understand.
I know the construction business in Arizona. Illegals help make the profit margin just a little sweeter per unit. Developers and Contractors are not interested in working conditions, benefits, pay scale. The job sites can be dangerous and there are murders and deaths that go under-reported. The illegals are being exploited. What about the word exploitation is so hard to understand?
Here's the solution--more site inspectors, more Americans employed and the developers run home to California with a little less profit. Americans need jobs in every sector.
HIRE AMERICAN!!!
Gee, about time.
it is the best soulution to the problem, but it need to be real penalties, not a slap on the wrist. none of the this is the maximum but we will give you less, being on a nationwide scale would be better
The thought is nice, but what happens when some of the nation's leading companies are shut down because of illegal workers?
Oh yes, it's a wonderful idea that all states must follow just to start.
WAKE UP AMERICA, BEFORE IS TOO LATE!
OMFG this is soooo the obvious answer to this problem. Fine the living crap out of anyone hiring them or renting to them.
First stop the flood and get them out.
Yes, they do fill a need for many employers but this system is exploiting them and the rest of us who pay taxes.
Local dairy farmers in my state are hiring them like mad and most offer them some kind of housing. Fine no prob...the thing that kicks my *** is that if they need health care they get it free of charge. Their kids get educated free of charge. They pay zero taxes.
Hmmmmm I wonder why people have such a problem with illegals in this country.
I am starting to deeply resent them being here because of it and I blame all the dam lobbyists and congress for making this happen.
This is going to get ugly soon, wait until the hate crimes start happening and see what a mess this turns into.
Side note . ee wizards post is 100% correct. ILLS are being exploited. The contractors wallets r getting fat, those fat wallets r paying lobbyists to make sure congress doesn't change a thing. This my friends is how America works.
Is this a new law or are they finally enforcing the old law? Because we've had that law on the books here in California for years...but nobody seems to enforce it..only during election time.
We live in a society that is exceedingly capable of adapting to "legislation" -- Most people don't realize to what extent they'll be affected if these jobs suddently became vacant. Most would go unfilled. It's ok to be against illegal immigration, but you should have a more fragmented view on the issue, as it is not black and white.
This legislation sucks, and I'm sure people are going to work around it, especially small businesses (most owned by American "citizens" -- those lawbreakers...
It is about time that someone head the charge against illegal immigration . Yes it is true in allot of places they have taken job most Americans would not want . Now they are taking jobs that Americans have been fighting each other for and can't get because they work cheaper and under the table . If you where to get a construction job for $9.50 an hour with no holiday or overtime pay . I would love it but because I don't speak spanish I can't get one . I can do the job but I can't get one because I am not a mexican and they have to pay me a decent wage and report it to the government .
It will be the only way, short of a civil war, that stops illegal immigration.
feel what heat? it's simple.employers who do not hire anyone illegal have no heat to feel. if current jobs being done by illegals all of a sudden became "available" they would be filled and either way the US would continue to go on with or without them. anyone who says "the illegals do jobs americans will not do" is not telling the truth. the fact is that the illegals are willing to let themselves be taken advantage of by doing the jobs for less. and if anyone thinks the "savings" are in some way helping keep the price of a product or service down for customers that is also NOT true.
example: a US citizen hires a contractor to do work on there home. the contractor hires illegal carpenters for $13/hour because if they hired a legal citizen it would cost $25/hour. In the bid the contractor does not give the customer a break on the price. they pocket the "extra cash". If all carpenters were LEGAL and paid $25/hour the bid would still be the same if the contractor was honest.
Yes, but so should the illegal aliens. It's a two-way street. Both are wrong, and should be penalized.
Yes they should feel the heat.
