What is a K visa?

Answer:
fiance visa

after your fiance enters the USA you have 90 days to get married...otherwise they are out of status and deportable.
You are likely referring to a "K-1" Visa. That is what you apply for if you want your fiance(e) to come to the U.S. so that you can be married.
You have to provide proof that you have met in person, and once your finance(e) arrives, you have 90 days in which to get married. You then have to provide proof of marriage and cohabitation and go through an interview to get resident alien status established.
If you pass that hurdle, the "alien" will be granted a two year residency (green card), which will then have to be renewed with proof that you are still married.
