Why Asian women were barred from marrying Mexican-Americans in the past, when we were classified as White?
My grand ma was a Croatian illegal alien. But nobody care in the past about illegals or undocumented aliens.

i dunno but i have heard in history alot of blacks mixed with native americans because they too were discriminated against by the whites so they were still legally allowed to marry blacks so you have alot of black americans with native americans ancestory.
There was a period of over 20 years (I am not sure when it was) that there was a ban on any Asian, particulary Chinese, immigrants at all. Then they could only come here conditionally after that. It was because of the extreme flow of the Chinese in prior years. The country was trying to keep diversity equal between the people coming here. It had nothing to do with actual race.

Pleeeeeeeease, I would say only about 10% of all Mexicans could be classified as white. Brown? Some. Orange? Most. But White???
