If my American son marries his Mexican girlfriend, how can she stay with him here in the U.S.?

She lives in Mexico and they visit back and forth. What would they have to do to keep her here when they get married?

Answer:
If she can come to the US legally, the best way for them to get married here to avoid a long separation. Once they married your son can petition for his wife, so she can get a conditional green card. This expires after two years and at that time if they still married they have to file with USCIS to remove the condition. After being married for 3 years she can apply for citizenship.
The wait for the initial green card approval could be long, so they might also want to file for travel and work permit. That usually takes about 4 month.
Start doing the immigration paperwork for a fiance visa....
It should be really easy. Talk to an immigration official.
he needs to start filing the paperwork now. it's a lengthy process. go to www.us.gov to find out more...look under the immigration page.
do us a favor, before she starts spitting out 5 kids have him buy a nice little pad in Mexico.
You are right....there will probably be a huge international mess to unwind.
It would be prudent if they happily take up residency in Mexico instead and enjoy the benefits of that great country.
Once they marry she can apply for a green card which will be issued contingent on their marriage. Meaning as long as they are married she can reside here. After so long she can apply for citizenship. However if they do not reside together, separate or divorce her green card will be revoked
First they marry here, then she'd need to apply for a permanent residency, then continuously reside as husband and wife in the US for 5 yrs before getting a green card. Wait another 5 yrs. then if everything is OK, you can usually get a citizenship then. Total wait is at least 10 yrs. until time of citizenship. That has been the usual experience according people I know.

Have him seek the advice of an immigration attorney. Also advise him to ignore ignorant remarks like those of Super Pat, a "patriotic" legend in his or her own mind. :))
she will need to be 'fixed' first. It is standard operating procedure
Your son and his wife will have to be able to prove that their marriage is valid, not just a convience, to immigration. I had a friend who married a man because he was nice, she was lonely, and he wanted citizenship. Didn't work! "Companionship" and no consumation isn't allowed. If they are truly in love, they will be able to get assistance through immigration.
