I want to register with a website where I can also be entitled to some prizes, but their requirment is that the applicant should be a UK resident. I am student in the UK and have been living here for more than a year so I am wondering whether they literally mean a resident or a UK citizen. Could you guys tell me whether there is a difference between residency and citizinship.
Answer:
Residency means you live there.....doesn't matter if you are another nationality or not.
Citizenship means you hold a UK passport...and that is your nationality.
To be a resident you must be physically living in that place and have proof of residency.
As long as you are living there currently, I think you are eligible to register with the website. As long as you have to have a UK address, shouldn't be a problem.
A resident is someone who has a physical address in that country. A citizen is someone who has all the rights and privledges of that country, such as voting, government sponsored health care and other social services.....
