I would like to say yes, but I am having second thoughts on it. In France, there is no jobs for the North Africans streaming into their cities. Instead of returning, the immigrants riot claiming racism. In Los ANgeles, El Salvadoreans who can't get jobs, because of lack of documentation are joining gangs instead. I am afraid if we use this tactic, it might end in violence. I don't like feeding them, but I think if we take a different tactic, we might reduce the riot from such a social change. I want them to leave, but I don't want the gang problem here to increase.

Yeah.it never made sense to me that you would afford all these social benefits to folks who thumbed their noses at your laws.
You might also want to get on the cases of American employers who are giving these people jobs without proper documentation. It would seem like they're flouting the law too.
And Americans that need social programs can't get on them because our gov. (state and fed.) just give away our hard earn money to the aliens.

I don't agree with you. People that come here from other countries, are trying to better them self. Most of their goals are simply to have food over their table, a job that they can go to, and a family that they can support. They are not asking for the Merz or the BMW, they are not wanting to eat at the finest restaurant, they are simply wanting just a little bit of better life.
Who does the dirty jobs out there?? Is the immigrants to come into the United States. Getting paid between 6-7 dollars an hour, for doing a job that most of us would never do. Who wants to be outside mowing a yard, when the temp is really high? Not me..but they sure do it.
People say Illegals don't pay taxes, that's a lie. Even those that have a fake social security number, are paying taxes. When the IRS takes the money out of their paychecks, they don't scanned to see who is illegal or not, they are simply wanting their money. When is time to file taxes in April, at that point the IRS will check to see who is Illegal, why? Because that way, they don't have to give back some of the money those people have been paying out of their paychecks.
We all have our different beliefs, we all view things differently, and that's ok.
We don't just give away food, jobs, money, and shelter. These people actually work for it. Some of them even, without a social security number, pay taxes by obtaining a tax id number.
And despite the argument that Americans would gladly take the jobs that they're working. It's just not true. The other day I watched a report on how the agricultural sector in California is suffering from the increased pressure on immigration. They can't find anyone to pick the fruit. The illegals are to scared to do it (for fear of being raided) and the Americans want more than they can afford to pay them. The reason they can't increase the wage for the fruit pickers is because they would have to raise the price of the fruit which would result in Americans not buying it because strawberry's imported from Argentina are much cheaper.
So let's begin with this. We stop importing things that we can provide at home, stop outsourcing our labor, and begin buying made in America products. This will result in a healthier economy with enough jobs for us and the illegals.
In addition, let's not forget why the majority of these people are coming here. They are hungry, they want to work to feed and clothe their families. I wish Lou Dobbs and the rest of his friends would, just for a second, put themselves in the place of these people. I don't care who you are, if your family is suffering you would try to do something about it.

The "getting rid of them by attrition" is a flawed argument.
The fact is the government had been ineffective for decades at doing what they were supposed to do in the first place; protect the borders and enforce the law. But that's water under the bridge, you can't continue to complain about what wasn't done in the past, so this question is a great one and a difficult one because there are no easy answers.
First and foremost, the obvious first action would be to finally seal the border, completely. Build an impenetrable wall with the fewest number of access points possible to be guarded by our Border Patrol Agents instead of having them run back and forth through 1800 miles of porous land. That stops the bleeding.
Next figure out how we bring the folks that are in out of the shadows so they can be counted. Unfortunately the government is not equipped to handle this monumental task so what's next?
Instead of getting all emotional over the issue (I've been guilty of that myself,) you're going to have to eventually come to the conclusion that the solution is going to be one that pisses just about everyone anyways.
The only leverage citizens have that they don't exercise is creating a powerful lobbying group that can compete head on with the business interests and come up with some pragmatic solutions, not fantasies like mass deportation or mass incarceration because those ideas are not only not feasible, they would make the matter worse a hundred times over.
You're right, we do give them some type of support but ignoring that they contribute in so many ways that make our lives easier is not going to help solve anything. And if a great number of them have fake documents like ID and SSNs, and some of them have on-the-book jobs, they're also paying in the system.
Don't give in the to hype and really find out exactly how much they're putting in, and how much they're taking out. It's real easy generalizing things in order to support your ideology on both sides of the fence.
Something has to be done for sure, it's just that whatever is done will piss almost everyone off anyway so why not do SOMETHING instead of complaining about it.
