Not immediately, no. Keep in mind that the illegal immigration that has gone on since the last Amnesty has already contributed to slower wage growth (and lower real wages), and that the power of Unions has been steadily declining for decades.
The current Amnesty would probably do the same thing - lead to even greater illegal immigration in the coming decades, which would further the same trends.

the guest worker provision might. That is why Byron Dorgan, a Democrat who is very pro-labor, tried to remove it from the bill (what the politicans overruled calling it a "poison pill").
Unions are destroying themselves with greed.How many U S companies have sent their companies overseas because of the unions?Minimum wage was just increased for the first time in over 10 years.Now if you want to discuss the impact the reform bill will have on these things the reform can't do anything but help.Companies will HAVE TO pay the "illegals"who no longer are illegal a going wage.So no more undercutting American workers for illegals for lower pay.
Yes it would, and thanks for capitalizing "Unions!" Workers need them more than ever before, just like we need companies who hire illegal aliens less than ever. Before a company can do business in the U.S., and I mean sell its products here, it should be required to meet three requirements:
1. It must pay all required taxes, fees and fines levied against it. No more claiming offshore tax havens, either.
2. It must verify that all of its employees have the legal right to work in the U.S.
3. It must pay no less than the legal minimum wage to all its employees.
Doing business in our country is a privilege, not a right.
Unions want the immigrants for new members. They will give a TEMPORARY fix or false hope for a war that was already fought. Count the businesses yourself. Most that were Union just pulled up shop and left! For CHEAPER wages.. Left the country. So honestly..I can't wait when they "take it to the streets and DEMAND" they will be demanding their very jobs go elsewhere. They act like this is a NEW thing...if it wasn't so serious it would be funny. They act like they were the very FIRST ones to experience this...LOL...been there done that ..LOL LOL...LOL...and race ain't got crap to do with it. They don't have a clue and won't listen to anyone. We just get to sit and watch another boring re-run...just to PROVE the obvious.
Illegal immigration has already contributed to lower wages and a decrease in union membership. Studies show that as illegal immigration increases, union membership decreases. Which is why so many unions are eager to fold in the illegals. Why hire a union worker when you can hire an illegal and exploit the crap out of them?
