Why is George Bush so desperate to get this AMNESTY bill passed.?
Answer:
Because he's a lame duck president. His "legacy" (Iraq) crumbled before his eyes. His own party turned against him.
Unfortunately, he's been drinking too much of the lefty kool-aid. This is his last-ditch effort to do something, ANYTHING, to get his name in the history books. So, he decided to side with the libs and try to push this joke of a bill through, thinking that it will be the bright spot of his tenure.
And before anyone decides to flame me, my family emigrated to the US some thirty years ago. We followed the proper channels. There were no agencies set-up to assist us, no mandates for easing our language barrier, no free insurance or other hand-outs. We had to learn English, get Green cards, file for citizenship, PAY TAXES, etc...
So he can laugh at people like you.

6) They do not demand unemployment benefits without

Most of the illegal immigrants of this Country have once been Legal. Passing an amnesty Bill today means passing another one tomorrow. But How do you keep giving out the right to a legal stay in America with a lottery to people that are not even in America while there are people in America that do not have the right to stay. Bush may be right about Getting this Bill But his desperation is political.
He knows that the Republicans will be voted out next election, largely due to his "unpopularity".
He wants the soft immigration/amnesty bill to be a credit to the republicans with the Immigrants and their supporters and big business, otherwise all the risk they have taken, with such an unpopular stance on immigration, will have been for nothing if the Democrats get it passed, under their reign.
