The myth of Aztlan can best be explained by California's Santa Barbara School District's Chicano Studies textbook, "The Mexican American Heritage" by East Los Angeles high school teacher Carlos Jimenez. On page 84 there is a redrawn map of Mexico and the United States, showing Mexico with a full one-third more territory, all of it taken back from the United States. On page 107, it says "Latinos are now realizing that the power to control Aztlan may once again be in their hands."
Shown are the "repatriated" eight or nine states including Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington. According to the school text, Mexico is supposed to regain these territories as they rightly belong to the "mythical" homeland of Aztlan. On page 86, it says "...a free-trade agreement...promises...if Mexico is to allow the U.S. to invest in Mexico...then Mexico should...be allowed to freely export...Mexican labor. Obviously this would mean a re-evaluation of the border between the two countries as we know it today." Jimenez's Aztlan myth is further amplified at MEChA club meetings held at Santa Barbara Public Schools..
The book, paid for by American tax payers, cites no references or footnotes, leaving school children totally dependent on their teacher to separate fact from opinion and political propaganda. The book teaches separatism, victimization, nationalism, completely lacks patriotism towards the United States, and promotes an open border policy. The book is 100 percent editorial -- the opinions of the author.

I fear uncontrolled population growth. Illegals are uncontrolled. I could care less what their nationality is.
I fear the destruction of the ecosystem, the inability to feed people and plagues that will be the result if not controlled.
Can I go to Mexico then and demand free health care, sell your people drugs of all kinds, live off of government programs, create gangs and violence, raise my American flag over my house, attempt to screw your women or at least eyeball them excessively and then flip off anyone who says anything about it?
No one fears Aztlan because it hasn't existed since the Mexica left Utah almost 1,000 years ago.
If you mean the movement, well that isn't feared either since Chicanos haven't agreed to exactly what the movement IS. In fact, Chicanos are as divided in their loyalties and priorities as any other group.
Even within my family, there are arguments as to whose welfare we should support, that of Mexicanos or that of Chicanos born and raised here.
The issue of immigration is a tough issue that every country has to deal with in its own way. Would you prefer for us to deal with immigration and ethnic divisions the way Mexico deals with them? Mexico jails and deports illegals. Ask the Indios of Chiapas how Mexico deals with minorities.

Most people fear (or despise, may the case be) what they don't understand.
Mexican immigrants (and I'm going to say Mexican speaking of all Hispanics, because Mexicans are the vast majority of Hispanics in the USA), both legal and illegal, have, for starters, a different native language. They have their own traditions, customs, institutions, holidays, idiosyncrasies, holidays, tastes, culture, taste in music, etc. etc.
They also (the majority, not all of them of course) look "different" from a "typical" American, that is, a direct descendant from the "founding fathers", who were of English descent. Many white red neck racists consider Mexicans an "ugly" and "impure" race, because it's a mix between Spanish Europeans and indians.
To top it off, it is a fact that many Mexicans are leechers who only come to the US to take as much as they can, and send the proceeds back home; they're not interested in the culture, language or customs of the US; they just want a "quick buck". But again, although that's not all of them, sadly that's the image most non-Hispanic Americans have of them (smart-aasses).
In short, the real fear white Americans have about Hispanic/Mexican Immigrants in general, is that they will destroy the "real image" or "real face" of America, which is that of the Anglo-Saxon English people (the founding fathers) who created the country, but they seem to forget that the US forcedly took from Mexico a big portion of its territory, Mexican residents included (California, Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, parts of Colorado, Wyoming, etc. about century and a half ago).
Finally, not all media analysts are afraid (or against) Hispanic/Mexican people. Only those who are close-minded or right-wing radicals are. But ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, no matter where the people come from, is a very bad thing, and all media analysts should denounce and despise it and yes, criticize and reject both the illegal people who invade the country and the US government who doesn't do anything drastic on purpose, because it is controlled by "special interests", which are benefited by cheap labor.
You can't lump all hispanics into the illegal category. Also you can't even lump them all into the immigrant category.
The Latino culture is smart enough to determine what is right or wrong and for the most part...anyone waiting in line the legal way is going to be opposed to illegal immigrants and they are not going to support them just because they are also Latino.
If you are supporting illegals you are simply disgracing the US as well as your own people by making it harder for them to come here.

Yes, there is something we can do about it. I wouldn't encourage a child past the age of 6 to believe in the tooth fairy or the Easter bunny, why would I encourage adults of any culture to perpetuate a myth like Aztlan? And ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL and has nothing to do with race. It's ILLEGAL!

I dont fear Aztlan as it doesnt exist except in some peoples minds. I dont fear any immigrants. Our country is always changing and I have no fear. We only want the immigrants to go the legal way and become citizens.
