If you have Cypriot nationality then you have to do it. If you have only UK nationality and you move there you won't have to do it regardless of your name.
I had the same problem I am 1/2 egyptian. But because I hold 2 nationalities the chances are you won't have national service. You would need to confirm it but at the end of the day should england and Cyprus go to war who could be sure you which side you're loyal to?
