Good idea. Now that's a more reasonable approach to the whole illegal immigration issue. Of course, it would never work here because Americans tend to hate being inconvenienced; even if it means enforcing proper border security..
We already have such a system, its called a social security number... Problem is, it can be forged and the IRS, greedy institution that it is has issued ITIN numbers to get around it, banks and landlords assume that if the government issue's the illegal immigrant an ITIN number then its legal to rent to them and give them a credit card... greed greed greed. No solution will work until our government works with us.
Why don't we just annex Mexico? We stole this country from the Native Americans and we bought California from Santa Ana. There are more Mexicans in America than in their own country and since more big businesses are setting up factories in Mexico for cheap labor, why not just take over the country and the immigration problem will be solved.
Just announce illegal immigrant hunting season begins next week, that'll get rid of most of them.
Okay by me! U.S. Citizens already are numbered and registered by their S.S. numbers (notice the abbreviation for Social Security is SS -- SS--gestapo?) Now we have to get our children social security numbers at birth so why not do as you say above? Let's go for it!
You overlook two minor things: First, there are illegals in germany, but life is very difficult for them (think of not being able to get medical help etc.).Second, any EU-citizen (with some exceptions) can choose to live and work in germany due to EU law and cannot be kicked out, no matter whether he speaks german or not.
And I really think that americans wouldn't like the idea that everyone has to register.The republicans won't like it for sure, bc. since everyone in germany is registered already, every adult is automatically registered for elections as well, and that would mean that all those poor unemployed would automatically be entered in the voting register.
All you describe exists already. The thing is that it is not working as it is working in Germany and the reason is FREEDOM of people in US regardless of their status. Because of this Freedom we enjoy illegals get away with their crimes.

I agree with you to a certain extent but you have to remember that the land we are living on was stolen from peoples who did not speak English. In California, for example, people are whining because all documents must also be available in Spanish. This is written into the state constitution because at that time the people who lived there and ran the state were not "American" but native to the area itself as Mexicans. And what about the other Native Americans? We killed them off, took their land and forced them into camps or "reservations" where they still live today. The way I see it, immigrants today are doing the same thing the Europeans did when they first came over here: making a "free" land there home.
A lot would not like to be numbered.
Good idea--the laws are supposed to be enforcing these same principles, but they don't.
I don't know any natural born citizen here that can do any of these things without an ID plus SS card. I don't see how the illegals do it.
I realize a lot of them pay for fake papers, etc. But the whole
'supposed' reason why people are coming here illegally is because they are too poor to file correctly and the requirements of money. So if they have the money to pay for fake ID's and SS cards, why did they not just pay for the proper forms and wait their turn?
I also agree with the english. There are requirements now to learn english upon citizenship, but they ar enot enforced either and there are so many people here on a temp basis that they just refuse to learn english at all.
