Let's say, for example, I am a student who wishes to study university in Spain and would like to live there for about 7 or 6 years... will it ever be possible for me to get one after this period of time? You will have to reside in Spain at least 10 years before you can be granted citizenship, and therefore, a passport. The only exception are citizens of the following nations, who can become citizens after 2 years of residence:

You will have to renounce your former citzenship if Spain does not have a treaty of dual citizenship with that nation. This is the case with the U.S. You will also have to speak and write Spanish fluently.
