12 million didn't enter this country illegally. around half entered legally. that is something being ignored or overlooked. the solution,heavy penalties to employers.

Anyone in the US who cannot trace their family tree back to an indigenous American tribe is the descendent of illegals who came here & stole this land by force. Let's give EVERYONE HERE the citizenship test (with no prior notice), and deport anyone who fails back to their country of origin. I have mixed emotions about that. I am Spanish my anscestors came here before the pilgrims landed. But if we don't enforce the law we become a lawless land. We can't allow that to happen.
On the other hand, the IRS hands out tax ID numbers to illegal aliens from its own web-site. This allows them to obtain jobs without being citizens. The US government doesn't have consistent policy which calls for the enforcement of the law.
The politicians are well aware that the IRS is the chief culprit by enabling illegals to obtain jobs and assisting them into tricking employers with government furnished tax ID numbers.

I think that they should be sent back. Send those 12 million people back to where they come from and then put our own unemployed people to work. Sounds like that would be a win/win situation for the US. They are here illegally so we give them jobs and say that they can stay. Hell no. What has our government come to?

My view is a simple view. Such would be wrong. It is an insult to American citizens overall. It is insulting to ever other group of people that have come to this country legally and adapted by following the rules that illegals now cannot seem to grasp and follow. Are such people that have such problems really the type of people that we want to encourage and give such to?
Legalization only comes about when one does things legally. Any that suggest otherwise are naive at best or just plain out to make money at the cost to American taxpayers and the sweat of others.

There are laws prohibiting people from coming in illegally and we are paying for the border patrol to enforce the law.
There are laws prohibiting employers from employing illegal aliens, then we pay ICE to enforce it.
Then the little dirty secret, IRS is handing out tax id numbers, so they could by-pass the law.

I believe that the Senators and Congressmen and Government Employees who are responsible for enforcing the laws should be required to pay for all the expenses of these 12 to 20 million illegal aliens out of their own personal pockets. Additionally, I believe they should all be jailed and placed on work details in our prisons wherein they can have the males and females separated and we can get some payback for their illegal activities.
We should implant every one of these illegals with rice chips and electronic bracelets that would track their whereabouts. If they are deported and return, they should be tried as enemy combatants and face a firing squad. They are invaders.
All the employers who hire, harbor and help illegal immigrants, including the law firms should have their assets seized and their principals jailed while the company is fined the maximum amount of money they can be fined. The firms should be taken over by Law-abiding U.S. Citizens and should be required to hire and train U.S. Citizens. No foreign borns can be hired until there is not one U.S. Citizen who is unemployed. The laws are for our protection. They are not protecting us if they are not being enforced.

I am Mexican-American but I see both views of these situation.
Ask your grandparents if the US had problems with illegal immirgrants before (China, Ireland, Italy, etc...). This problem has been around for about the last 240 years. The government is not go to sent 12 million out of the country. Not that many people are going to work in a farm for $6-$8 per hour. Many of the illegal immigrants own homes, cars, etc... What would happen to all that?

If a immigrant has been here for a year or less deport them unless they are extremly ill and your country is in a civil war.
If they have been charged with a felony over the last two years and have been convicted of it deport them unless they are very dangerous and their government won't do anything about it. Otherwise let their government deal with it. Make immigrants older than 21and less than 60 pay $6,000 to $10,000 depending on their income over the next 6 years or 7 years. Make everyone be able to vote by the 2020 election. As of right now consider them as residents (if they break the law they could be deported).
Or they could go back and try to do it the legal way.
This US is a melting pot and maybe later the wall could be destory such as the Berlin Wall.
But when it comes down to it, it is all about the money. Both side talk about jobs, wages, s.s., welfare,and land that was taking away from mexico.
