You do know there is major difference between drunk driving citizens and drunk driving illegals ?
The key distinction lies not in the act, but in the propensity to act. Let me explain. Drunk drivers are dangerous and many otherwise upstanding citizens can fall prey to the temptation to drive while under the influence. However, it is also true that those who unashamedly commit other crimes, from drugs to murder, are more likely to break the law in other areas, i.e. driving drunk.
It is the fact that these individuals show a disrespect for the rule of law in the first place that makes them so dangerous. Illegal aliens show that they do not respect our laws by the fact that they have illegally invaded the country. There is a good chance that they have not only broken into the country, denying the sovereignty of a nation, but also forged documents, mail fraud – identity theft, and are co-conspirators in human trafficking. Their propensity to break other laws is therefore greater than the average law abiding citizen. This does not mean that U.S. citizens do not drive drunk. Some obviously do. The point of the focus on drunk driving illegal aliens is their propensity to break the law, because they have taken that first step of entering the country illegally.
Those with a propensity to break the law are certainly very dangerous individuals and should not be taken lightly. Many of these illegals would not have killed their victims if law enforcement officers on both the state and federal level had worked together to ensure that they were deported. It is their propensity for crime, their willingness to break the law, that makes illegal aliens so dangerous.
Answer:
point is taken, however, not all illegals drive drunk, not all people who have been drinking are drunk. The propensity of the situation is the legal people pay, the illegals just change their name or go freely somewhere else because they dont have a number attached or positive documented ID,and the legal ones dont have a chance because in America you no longer are innocent till proven guilty, you are guilty till you pay for innocence. There are laws that make sure of it and it makes me puke.
You make good points.
Creating different classes of drunk drivers waters down the issue and makes some people less responsible for a horrible behavior.
There should be little tolerance for drunk drivers. One arrest - lose your license for 3 years. Two arrests - lose your license for life.
Appealing to the illegal immigrant argument just makes you look like a race batter also.
You make a good argument but I live very near a very high concentration of illegals. I have never seen a drunk driving Mexican or even heard of one. I met one very nice Mexican guy at the beach that had too many but it really seems to me that is not generally true of many of them. I would be more worried about those that are second generation and in the gang community but even that doesn't seem to be a disproportionate problem. I have to admit that they seem to be very well behaved in my community.
you have put a lot of thought into this, but do you think victims are concerned one way or another. dead is dead, the who,why and where means little
I'm so tired of this shiut allways looking for ways to burn Illegals . just S U.
Now compare a mass murderer to those who commit just one murder in their lifetime.
The bottom line is illegal aliens don't belong in this country.
ANY death by an illegal alien drunk driver is unnecessary because they shouldn't be in this country in the first place.
Period.
There are more Americans killed EVERY YEAR by illegal aliens than the entire number of U.S. military killed since the war in Iraq began.
EDIT: I VERY CLEARLY stated U.S. military!! The number is NOT 16K plus. Don't try to twist MY statement to suit your agenda!!!
The number you quoted...BTW is merely for murders. It does not include deaths by drunk drivers...manslaughter, rapes, robberies, or any other crime.
BTW...here's a link that states clearly the number of U.S. MILITARY casualties in Iraq month by month...if you are going to try to accuse me of producing false statistics (which I didn't provide to start with anyway, I merely made a statement), you should provide a link proving me wrong.
BTW the statistics you quoted are NOT even remotely referring to the same statistics as mine. The numbers are different because they are not reflecting the same thing. Do you honestly think people can't see through that??

Your response??
Pro USA your stats are off a bit.
There are a total of 16,137 murders in 2004, and many more than 16k have died in the Iraq war(if you count civilians and the other side.) I doubt that even 5% of the 16k murders were committed by immigrants, much less undocumented immigrants. So I love the twist but try using actual facts so that you remain credible all the rest is just bull.
This really spells it out very well
No I don't and even after I read your rant I still only know ONE thing.. drunk driving is drunk driving. It makes no difference to the victims whether the person doing is is Black, White, Mexican, legal or illegal. You are attempting to distract from the real issue which is drunken driving. Your rants do not impress anyone except people that are easily led around by fiction you post. Again this is not a question it is a rant.
Here's the difference, citizens can get a license. If you have a driver's license, you can get insurance. If you get in a wreck and have insurance, the person you hurt is given money to pay for their hospital bills. An illegal immigrant can't get a license (no proof of citizenship). No license= no insurance. If a person doesn't have insurance they are statistically more likely to hit and run. Even if the illegal doesn't hit-and-run, no insurance means the victim is left with no aid and must face medical costs and damages atop injury.
From the illegal immigrant's view, staying at the scene means having to talk to a police officer and give all personal information, which will be checked for authenticity. This means he or she could be charged for a myriad of crimes in addition to illegal immigration. That means he/she faces prison time and fines as well as deportation. By association this endangers their friends and family as well. The illegal immigrant will hit-and-run if they decide loyalty to their friends and family is more important than atoning for the injury they did to a stranger. Add in alcohol and people are generally less self sacrificing.
If the illegal immigrant does hit-and-run it means that the person they injured will have to wait until someone else comes along to help. I had a friend whose car was hit-and-run by a drunk driver. Since it was at night, it took 2 hours for someone to stop. Fortunately her boy-friend was with her. He spent two hours doing rescue breathing for her after the crash broke her neck. She survived.
