You are not illegal unless you are here unlawfully. People here that are not citizens are all not illegal.
If you have a work visa, school visa, or residency card, and are in the middle of applying for whatever, there is a period when you are 'technically' illegal.
I don't know why you want to brag about it and I think you should be worried about your future and what you need to do to stay here.
