All these proposed requirements for illegals is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. It is designed to make you feel more comfortable. If they were going to do anything positive about illegal aliens it would have been done long ago.. They can,t even track pedophiles who have been here for years, don,t buy into the charade. It is nothing more than meaningless legislation!!

MYTH: DHS only has only one day to complete background checks.
FACT: Obtaining Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) status is a multi-step process that includes thorough background checks with no guarantees. It can be broken down into three parts: probationary period, Z status, and LPR.
1. Probationary Period. The undocumented worker comes out of the shadows to acknowledge they have broken the law. In order to obtain probationary status, they must show they are employed and pass a preliminary background check. There is a provision in the bill that says DHS has one day to find a “disqualifying factor,” but that is not the end of the process. That is a very short term way of ensuring that if someone comes out of the shadows and admits their illegality, they will not be deported while the process is ongoing and can continue working while the full background check is completed. At any time if something pops up, the applicant becomes deportable, and will never have a chance at Z status and certainly not LPR status
NO! I support Bush on just about everything, but we part ways on this. I do not think the doors of this country should just be thrown open for any and all to come in.
If they want to become citizens, do it the CURRENT legal way.learn about our country, learn our history, learn our language, don't let them sneak in the back door.

What's even more outrages is that even if the computers go down, after 24 hours your background checked is completed and you have passed that part of the amnesty
I've had background checks for jobs that took a week. It make no sense to me since many have multiple identies and drift from state to state...not to mention what there might be in their own country.
Yes and if the check is not completed in that time frame the person is approved anyway.
