Illegal Alien married to citizen but didn't take ex-husbands last name...?

My friend married a US citizen (shes illegal) and she's waiting for the response on her green card (its been pending for 5 yrs). Her husband is now divorcing her because they have grown apart, but what she's wondering will the fact that she didn't take her soon to be ex-husband's last name and stuck with her maiden name, will that affect the process of her green card?

Answer:
Unfortunately when it comes to immigration, they can work on circumstantial evidents. So, if she did not take his last name, and she is not a US citizen, they may see this as an attempt to become a citizen by getting married.

Now that they are getting a divorce, she will need to plead her case as to why she wants to be a US citizen and what she is going to do while here.

Unfortunately, she has broken the law and since she is an Illegal alien, the marriage will be Null and void if there was not a marital visa applied.
I think the fact she is illegal and broke the law, thus making her a criminal, will have more bearing on her status than a name.
The fact that she's getting divorced will soon be found out by immigration and they will probably not issue the green card to her.
Last name doesn't matter, the fact that she is a criminal illegal does. She probably married him just so she can stay.
