As a Canadian, can I volunteer in the US for 2 months?

I'd like to volunteer and participate in a non-paid internship position. Do I need to get a Visa or anything like that to be allowed to live and volunteer in the US for 8 weeks?

Answer:
I would get a visa. Otherwise, you risk being hassled for entering as a tourist and doing something else.
I agree with Greg M. Canadians are permitted to stay in the US as tourists for up to six months without a visa, but volunteering might look like you entered the country for other purposes. You might want to talk to the embassy/consulate near you about whether or not a visa would be a good idea.
