The amendment was simply misinterpreted. The 14th Amendment was written to help children of slaves become citizens. Period.
In fact, if you read the 14th Amendment, you will see that it clearly states babies born to foreigners in the US are NOT US citizens.
Further, with the way illegals are flying the Mexican flag above an upside down American flag, dragging the American flag behind them in the mud, refusing to assimilate and speak the language, and the way they talk about taking over America, it could be argued that their kids are "Children born to enemy forces in hostile occupation of the United States" which the 14th amendment clearly states cannot become US citizens.
I feel that we should emphasize this piece of the 14th amendment - "Children born to aliens who are lawfully inside the United States (resident or visitor), with the intention of amicably interacting with its people and obeying its laws." Allow people like this to be citizens.
I have no gripe with Mexicans or Italians or Africans or any other race. If you want to come to America, welcome! But do it legally. America has a wonderful, unique culture (just like every other country!) and I would hate to lose it.
We need to regulate how many people come in so we can maintain the standard of living people come to America to find.
I agree, ship them out with their parents. They need to pay for their hospital bill before they go.

Amend this "ONE" anchor babies issue for the sake of America
Fine the companies that hire them
Keep the pressure on them with constant raids
Place no less than 100,000 patrol officers at the border and close it
Cut off welfare for any Illegal parents - deport them and put the babies in CPS
Remove all Hispanic specific related products from our stores
Take spanish language options off of automated phone systems
Remove all hispanic billboards
Close all wire transfer-check cashing locations in every state
Fine Western Union for doing business with illegals willingly
That should pretty much take care of the problem

Same problem here in the UK. It is wrong, I am sorry but just because you are born here with foreign parents should not make it a right to hold British Citizenship. Some cases here they have sent parents back to their own country and put the kids in care. Sad to split families but they had a choice to take them back and chose not too.
Native Americans still have to show proof of citizenship-how ironic.
Sounds like a great idea. I'm tired of illegal women coming here to have their babies and then crying when they are deported and saying we don't care about their kids. I'm also sick of paying taxes so illegals can have their babies here. I paid to have my son. Everyone else should have to pay up too.

I agree that the United States' Constitution needs to be clarified for today's problem invaders into our country. The Constitution regarding children born in our country applied to citizens of the United States. You can't take the sentences out of context, but rather read who the Constitution was written to in the Preamble to the Constitution which begins with:
WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Absolutely no where in the address to the citizens of the United States does it apply to the criminals who are invading our country. Anchor Babies are just as illegal as their parents who crossed the border to make the US Taxpayers take care of their medical expenses and shelter, education and so on. The whole family needs to be deported just like our laws currently say. The words that refer to children born in the US needs to include the words "of legal citizens of the United States".
Absolutely no child should be left behind when their parents are deported. If the children have learned something while taxpayers supported them, maybe they can start to clean up their own country. Children born of illegal aliens are not the responsibility of the American taxpayer. They need to stay with the parents who gave them life. The parents are responsible for their own children in whatever country they live in.
All people invading the United States without permission from the government of the United States are criminals and are to pay thousands in fines prior to being deported. Why isn't the government enforcing the law? Could it be that the big businesses that hire the mexicans are paying off the politicians? hmmmm

The current immigration issue is due to ONE thing and ONE thing only; our government does not enforce the laws already on the books concerning undocumented immigrants. All that needs to be done to stop it is to penalize the companies that employ these folks. That's what Federal Law says..it is up to the employer to qualify the new hire that he/she is either a citizen or has the proper papers to hold a job.
The government "winks" at this law because they know their good buddies Big Business, agribusiness, farmers and others depend on this cheap labor force.
Our government in NOT INTERESTED in stopping them from coming here. They have ignored it for over 60 years.
I do, completely. So does our constitution but it's been used wrong for a long time now. Illegals are not under the jurisdiction of our country at all, therefore their children are illegal, too!
